Default Swelling? Living in North Carolina?

Hi. I have had RSD and PN for almost 4 years. I have seen like many here many specialists who deal with RSD and PN and tried many treatments/meds. Up till I would say last summer I did not have the swelling issue. Then this summer I started to swell my foot/ankles so much and it increases the pain with my leg/foot feeling like it is run over and smashed. I am on just meds like neurontin. Has anyone found a med that helps with the swelling? I am thinking if the med helps with the condition then it helps with the swelling too though. I know when my pain was doing better at one time my calves were not as tight but now back in a bad flare the tight calves are back too

I also am wondering if anyone lives in NC and if so how the weather impacts your pain level?

Cortisone dealt my swelling a pretty good knock out punch. Both feet swollen and never went down, then I had the block with depo medrol and discovered I had feet in there. Now they do swell when I do too much, or when I'm in bed too much but they are not that 'going to explode' swollen.

But that sleeping thing is the key for me. I'm much better when I get good sleep. I don't like taking Xanax but without it I just don't sleep, and then my stress level is up, my headache is worse, I stutter more and can't find my words, I'm lazier, and more depressed. So, (so be it slowly) I'm learning that sleep is an important 'medication'. Less electronics and more meditation also quiets my head.

Just thinking about moving gives me too much stress. Maybe you could find a family therapist or a pastor who could help you talk through your issues and get some perspective other than from the center of your pain. It has helped me. I'm about ready to go again because I nearly got caught in a bad thought trap last week.

with prayer,
pat e

Thanks for your reply. Trust me I have done so much individual therapy and also biofeedback plus meds. Thanks for the suggestion about the swelling. Hopefully I will figure something out and also find a docter one of these days who will look outside the box in treating me. Glad you have been helped with therapy
