Default Nerve Block

Im not sure if the two are corrallated, but i have to have my second nerve block done tomorrow. And i am a nervous wreck, don't think it would be as bad if it was the same doc. But since i have moved i had to start all over. The pain is so great today i cant even rest my foot on the bed, have to keep it elevated. So does stress cause the rsd to be worst? And on a side note i sit up in my bed alot with pillows behind me and today when i sit back it feels like i have a heating pad on my back that is burning me! There is nothing there but pillows! Anyone ever experienced this! My rsd is in my right ankle and i have had that happen there but not in my back.

Default Stress

YES!!! Stress in one of the number one causes of flare-ups with RSD. I get stressed frequently and it causes me intense pain! My RSD started in my right foot and has now spread all the way up my right side. I'm not trying to worry you too much, but if you having burning pain in your back, you may want to ask your doctor to check out if it's spreading or not. If you catch it right away...he may be able to put it into remission. Good Luck and Gentle Hugs

Stress is a big factor on how intense your pain is. The burning could be a couple different things including spread. I get a mix of burning and a sometimes a feeling of running cold water. (like today it felt like ice water running down my right side.) Let's hope that you don't get any additional symptoms.

As far as your block. I to have right ankle rsd. (originally) and my last lsb was a set of 3; 1 week apart and it really helped decrease the pain and my toenails turned back to normal colors.

Thanks for the advice, I sure hope its not spreading, but would it have to be all the way up my right side or can it go from ankle and then back without being all the way up? I hope that makes sense! Thanks for the hugs they are so much appreciated! Wishing everyone pain free hours and days!

No, I had thigh numbness not pain. My foot was on fire. Which for me felt good, because it was 10 degrees colder then the rest of the body. That is how they determine if: 1- it is rsd, 2- what type. (I don't remember the type) (brain fart) Call your dr. about the thigh.

The nurse told me this sometimes happens but i told her i have never felt this! It took me over 5 min to get out of hospital bed. I explained that i was in more pain after the injection than before! I have taken 1000mg of vicoden in the last 6hrs in 500mg doses. One at noon and the other at 6pm Neither one have provided any relief. My foot feels like a fire is being held to it, but yet is very cold to the touch. And thigh hurts to even move. And they scheduled me for another one next tuesday! But im so afraid whats going to happen, and how long this is going to last! Im a single mom and have to take care of my child, she is very helpful but at only 7yrs old still needs meals and showers. Thanks for letting me vent, it feels so great!

After my first bilateral lsb (both sides) , I had issues with my left thigh being numb in a spot. It also hurt like you are describing. I couldn't lift it to even step I to the shower (not the tub kind) without it taking my breath away. I also had shocks around the numb areas then it progressed to burning and sensitivity. For a while even having a skirt brush against my leg felt like knives were cutting it. This all scared dh so bad that he went to my next appt with me ( he hadn't been to any other than the blocks themselves). The next two blocks helped to calm down the burning and the pain came and went. Eventually the symptoms calmed down a lot. I still have the numb area ( though not as noticeable) and it does ache or hurt sometimes but not too badly. ( seems worse in cold or damp weather/ weather changes much like the RSD). This was 15 months ago. I have to wonder of the dr nicked a nerve or is the RSD spread. My current dr says he thinks it is nerve damage from being nicked. Sorry you are having to deal with this. I am a SAHM to 6 (my oldest just turned 18 and my youngest is 5). I can't imagine having to deal with this a a single mom. Is there anyone you can ask for help? Family? Church? I don't know what I would do without my older kids who do a lot of cleaning and cooking and dh who helps with morning routine and bedtime. Hang In there.

I had 1 block in my neck and never had another one. I had a terrible reaction where I couldn't move or turn my neck, it was awful. My cheek and how was swollen and my tongue too. After PT the symptoms calmed down a bit but after 2 mos. I still have some pain in my neck. After this block I felt like my RSD spread to my neck and heightened all my syptoms that were dormant for months. I hope you feel better

I had one bad shot that really hurt my back. I have to agree that maybe it did not hit the right place. Try another, if you get the same result then (personally) I would not do anymore with that dr. (he is showing is inexperience to do lsb)

Just my thoughts. I got great relief when they did 3: 1 week apart. my pain was cut in half and my toes turned back to normal.
