I am new to this forum but frequent the TOS forum. I was recently at a massage appt when the MT told me she felt I had RSD... So I was wondering if anyone would:
1) Tell me about your RSD symptoms 2) Tell me how you were diagnosed with RSD Of course, I am not 100% sure I even have RSD - I will get into specifics later - my hand is quite sore and FREEZING cold right now... Thanx ![]() |

Hi,
Perhaps you could give us some idea of your own symptoms first, regarding why you suspect possible RSD and how the problems began for you - we have several members who have TOS also, who might help in differentiating the two conditions. You'll also find a lot of the information you request in the Intro and Stories section, and just reading the back posts will give you some very good insights. Everyone's RSD story is different, diagnosis is complicated and frustrating - a too-general response may not be so helpful...ya know? I do hope for your sake the MT is wrong; could very well be, all the best. |

Heya,
I agree with Artist - this thing is so different in many of us that it's impossible to come up with a criteria - it's why it is so vague - basically, if it's SEVERE pain, colour issues, change in temp, swelling etc etc etc and no other cause can be identified through tests then it might be RSD - but it's a clinical diagnosis. The others with TOS on this board are really lovely so I'm sure if you let us know your symptoms that some of them can advise take care!! FRXxxxx

Wel basically I have always suffered from numbness, swelling, pain and a cold hand/arm on my right side. I have had a diagnosis of TOS. When I was at my massage appt the MT said that when she works on my arm it gets colder - which she said indicated RSD...I know when I work on my PC for instance, I definately get sorer and my hand is MUCH colder.
Not sure if that make sense.... |

Thank you everyone! I did read your intro's and got a better insight into RSD...again I am not sure if this is even what I have...as I mentioned before I have TOS and will be having rib removal surgery in the near future...Hearing RSD mentioned was new to me...but so far my MT has been bang on with what she has told me.
In addition to the TOS I suffer from low back/hip pain which goes into my right leg, which I have been told is the SI joint (this happened after a car accident where I was rear ended - my hips were xrayed recently as I take high dose corticosteriod inhalers daily for asthma and the doc wanted to rule out any issues, everything checked out okay). I know RSD, like any condition, can vary from person to person - I just wondered if there were things I could look for or ask about that may help me check this in or out...I will say my GP has not been well versed in TOS so that has been a struggle to get a diagnosis - it has taken 7 years for me to get to this point. |
