with Topamax? I am having a hard time finding real people to answer this for me. I just started it yesterday and am on dose 2 with only pop tasting flat. not sure if I should be waiting for the shoe to drop....

any good, bad, indifferent effects and how long after starting it did they begin?

How much are you taking in mgs?

50 mg @ night to start with for the 1st 5 nights then i go up to 100 mg a night for 5 nights etc, as long as I am ok with each increase...up to 400 mg.

I started with a much lower dose. Within a week I was very moody, etc. I don't drink soda so I can't tell you about it tasting bad. I also felt down...though that could have been from the chronic pain too from the plantar fasciits.

good luck. =) My dr. had me up my dosage pretty slowly. i took it morning and night.

Does anyone know when they started putting side affects in Topomax?

when i started giggling...my reply to myself was:

If they thought they could make money off a drug to counter act the side affects that they purposely put into the Topomax....is when they started putting the side affects in....

Wow -400 a day is a lot!!

Google side effects of meds to find some sites. i think there are a few I went to where I read patient stories and reviews.

Tingling in your hands and feet may occur as your dose increases. You may also get diarrhea, some have had to lower their dose or go off Topamax completely because of that side effect. it makes a lot of drinks taste strange. I have also lost my desire for alcohol and drink very sparingly. There is supposed to be some weight loss with it, but I was kind of small to start with...I can tell you that it didn't cause me any weight gain.

i take 200 mg. 100 in the morning and 100 at night. When I tried to go higher than that I had a lot of trouble with my stomach.

that is hysterical! is this reading through topamax glasses? lol. it truly made me laugh out loud to myself and thought, this poor woman must have been so confused....

Soda tasted funny after about 12 hours. This either eventually goes away, or you get used to it. I drink a diet soda every day and don't notice it tasting any worse than it normally does.

I think the first time I was on it I felt a little woozy within a day or so, and it lasted a couple days every time the dosage was raised. I was started on 25 mg, increased by 25 mg per week.

I had a little bit of problem with vision at 300 mg, but I was doing photo correction at a printing company. I don't think I would have noticed it otherwise.

I am on 400 mg now with no problem other than I want to drink ice cold water all the time.

I can not take the generic topomax. I got bad bad migranes and headaches from taking the generic, and as soon as I switched to name brand I was okay....

As far as other side effects.. I have no idea. I have so many symptoms I cant tell whats from what anymore, but nothing out of the ordinary!

Well I am on day 4 of Topamax (generic) @ 50 mg in am & 50 mg in pm...only side effect still is diet pop tastes funny. So maybe I wont have any additional effects or maybe they won't show up until I am at a higher dose. It would figure, I was soooooooo looking forward to the weight loss bonus!! I am glad that I am not getting tired or sick though as I have had so many ill feelings on many other meds at low doses. I do however notice I am extremely thirsty and drinking lots more H20 (and sugar free kool aid)
