Default Friend needs help

Hi everyone, I have a friend that lives in Corpus Cristy and needs a new pain Dr. He has has too many surgeries and is still in excruciating pain. The Dr. treating him thinks the answer is always to cut. They have not completely diagnosed him with RSD, but it has been mentioned. A pump has also been mentioned. I think I remember seeing some Dr. names in Corpus Cristy, Texas or nearby areas. If anyone has any names in that area it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Wendy

Hi Wendy, First off I would like to say that your friend should stop having surgery. If in fact the person does have rsd/crps, surgery will only make it worse. Next, I am not sure where Corpus Cristy is located in Texas but I went down to texas for a friends wedding last year and my doctor gave me the name of a dr. near Abilene and if I had a problem to call him. The next time I see my doctor I will ask him if he knows anyone in your area who can help. It seems my Doctor knows a lot of doctors across the untied states! Also, I go to this support group at a local hospital and we were talking about how people found their doctors and one person mentioned they had called a law office in their area who deals with RSD/ CRPS because they wanted to sue their doctor because they felt he did this to him. At the time the guy just assumed that is what he had, but was never actually diagnosed. The law office actually told the guy to go see this specific doctor because he knows all about rsd/crps. I thought that was an interesting way to find a doctor. Who better to know the experts in this area then a law office who deals with these specialty cases. So, that is something you can try too. Its worth a shot. One last thing I would like to point out, if your friends doctor has mentioned he thinks your friend may have CRPS and continues to operate on him/her after stating that, I would most def. seek legal council. Any doctor who knows about CRPS knows that they should only operate on a person with this condition when it is a life or death situation. Surgery causes it to spread. My doctor makes me where a bracelet saying I have CRPS just incase something happens. It is a very tempermental condition. Everytime I see my doctor he checks to make sure I am wearing the bracelet. So that tells me how serious it is. I guess he see's me in enough pain and wants to prevent additional. Anyways, I hope your friend gets better! Try calling a law office who specifically deals with CRPS cases. I am sure they can point your friend to a very good doctor who can tell them if they have this condition. Keep us posted!

Hi Vanessa, I know pretty much about RSD I have had it since 1986 and it stinks. I live in Florida and have seen both Dr. Kirkpatrick and have also gone to Philly to see Dr. S , My friend lives in Texas and is just unable to travel very far, so I told him I would ask all the people on this board, because usually someone on here knows someone somewhere. I think I read on here a while back about a Dr. in his area that was supposed to be great, I just don't remember any names, but thank you for your input. I am from IL. I grew up in deerfield and then Libertyville, and have tons of family in the Chicago area, where are you located?

Hey Wendy, I live In Marengo. Its a little before you get to Rockford. Route 20 goes right through Marengo. I use to work in Deerfield until I got RSD. Right off of 294. I miss working! =O( Couldnt go back after I got this. The one thing I dont miss is the drive though. It was a 40 mile drive which wouldnt be bad if there was anyway to get there that didnt hit traffic congestion! I would get to work in the morning within an hour but the way home always took me from 2 1/2 to 3 hours! It was a killer! I live in a very small town and couldnt imagine actually living in a city like that. To much hustling and bustling if you as me. I like it nice and quiet! My husband lived in Glendale heights before moving to marengo when we bought a home. He doesnt like it out here, he doesnt like the qiet, laid back atmosphere. He also doesnt like have to drive at least 20 minutes to go to a store. He constantley complains about it! But he knows he is stuck because I am NOT moving! lol!

Vanessa =O)
