Default Hi Debbie,

I have a lot of nightmares also. I will wake up from them and go right back into them when I go back to sleep.

They are stupid dreams for me. People I haven't seen in years, people I have never seen, some are just plain too stupid to even talk about. I have often wondered if it was the meds or the pain. I'm not on too high of a dosage of med that I thought would do it.

I too wonder if it's not the RSD. I have also dreamed about the pain and wondered when I woke up if it was that bad or was I dreaming it.

These dreams with me have been going on for years since RSD. I use to tell Bill about some of them but as I said some of them would have been a hoot to tell anyone about.

I'm thinking the pain.

I am frequently having dreams about pain, my physical therapy and the people who work with me (my physical therapists, Drs). I do get some scary dreams about the pain and things... I think that it happens because it is a lot of what has been on my mind lately, KWIM?

Thumbs up Great topic

I used to rarely ever remember dreams. But after coming off the pain meds I had about a month of nightmares

Real bad ones!!

Then about the last 3 weeks no more dreams I can remember. Then for the last few nights I have been having a dream in black and white, that continues with a story line each night. The same guy is trying to kill me, and has tried several things to no avail. I keep saving myself, until last night!!!

Last night he told me that this was it, he was finished playing he was gonna kill for sure. Now so far this is still in black and white. I was to meet him at a place, and I got there first. When he drove up he just jumped out of the car, pulled out a pistol and began shooting at me. He was only 25 or so feet away, and I began to run to my left. I decided to play like the movies and dive, and roll behind the object in front of me.

As I dove into the air, and was in mid flight, this pure white light began to appear in front of me. I was going head first straight into it! All of a sudden as my head was very close to getting into the light, I saw this bright gold light inside of the white light rapidly start taking a form. The gold light caught me!!! I knew immediately it was an angel of the lord! It caught me, then began to lift me slowly turning towards the shooter! I was thinking oh boy this is it as the shooter came into view, and still firing straight at my hand raised body!

It then came to me that I should warn this guy, so I yelled as loud as I could HE IS AN ANGEL OF THE LORD!!!! At that very moment I awoke to hear myself screaming ANGEL OF THE LORD at the top of my lungs!

My wife didnt even stir! I layed there with my heart racing 100 mph!

Now if that isnt bad enough! I was telling my family about the dream, and they all got wide eyed, and told me they were watching TBN, and some guy seen gold light come down from the ceiling, and touch his mom's broken foot. They said he was very excited about this. Now this didnt trouble me, but just gave me something to think about.

Well a few hours later I was surfing the internet, and followed a link sent by a friend. It took me to a NDE site (near death experience), that at first when I realized what it was almost clicked out. But for some reason this one certain story caught my eye, and I decided to stop and read just this one story.

Well a few sentences down he tells how he is in heaven standing before god, and in this pure white light, this gold light starts intermingling. Now this gold thing started to kinda trip me out!!

I am not sure if it means anything, or if it is a coincidence or what?

Now you all are writing about Dreams!!

Apparently having nightmares is not such a bad thing! I am told that at least it means you are sleeping deep enough to have REM sleep which is the sleep where we dream and dreaming actually helps to keep us psychologically stable! This info is courtesy of my Sleep Clinic doctor.

Default Allen,

That was a very interesting dream. I was wondering if that is a time where a person in maybe close to dying in their sleep and is brought back out of it by God because it's not our time yet.

I don't know if you guys have ever been told this one but I'm sure you have had dreams where you are falling like off of a cliff and you just keep falling and you finally wake up before you hit bottom. I was told that if you do hit bottom it is when you die in your sleep. Don't know if that is true or not but I can't even count how many times in my life I have had that dream.

One I use to have and every once in awhile I still have I think goes back to me being molested as a child. I dream that someone is at the foot of my bed and I am kicking and kicking at him and trying to get him away from me. Since councelling I have done better with it. It's only happened once or twice since.

Awhile back I dreamed Bill was standing at the side of by bed. I woke up and was looking for him, it was so real.

There aren't very many nights that I don't have dreams but I honestly don't think it's from our meds. I believe it has to do with the RSD and Fibro having our head so physically messed up that this is just another part of the syndrome.

Like you, I'm a firm believer in God even with all I have been thru. I get angry at him at times but I have complete faith in him.

Another thing about these dreams don't you wonder if it is part of something that is going on in our life or has gone on and we are just playing it out in our mind in different ways at times and with different people. Even yours Allen, that dream must have some kind of meaning in it of something similar that has happened to you in time. Maybe not that violent but something that reminds you of the way that went down in your dream.

Bill use to have nightmares when we first got married. One night he jumped all the way over me in bed and was standing up wanting to fight someone. He actually hit me once or twice in his sleep. I learned not to get near him when he was having those dreams. I believe it had something to do with his childhood by what I know of his. After a few years he quit having them.

This is just my thoughts but I do know the dreams drive me nuts. I talked to Bill and my Dr. about them many a times. There is hardly a night that I don't have them and I didn't before RSD.

In my experience nightmares are invariably caused by discomfort or pain while sleeping. This seems to apply to most individuals.

I tend to wake up screaming or in panic at the first sign of pain so am able to avoid the nightmares usually but I have RSD dreams when other symptoms appear. These are hard to describe but it usually involves shallow sleep and a sense of dread.

I'm pretty lucky with sleep most nights since the medication suppresses symptoms long enough to drift off and the pain tends to stay away while I'm asleep. It shuts off like one of the senses at night. This was my big problem with lyrica; every time I'd start to drift off the pain would get worse.

Default pain-mare

I know that feeling of dread and dispair- and I think it does add to the pain-mares- This whole RSD thing is just like a bad dream and I am still waiting to wake up!

I believe this has a lot to do with the meds - Many have nightmares as a side effect. Anyone who is experiencing this should check for the side effect list and also call your pharm. Sometimes this side effect needs to be noted or taken care of immediately. Check with the net/your doc/pharmacy.
