Yes you are right, doctors and their practices are at risk. Thats why I shut my mouth around my doctor and just do as he asks. I am grateful to be getting the help. I actually have a very compassionate doctor. His office is often very full, and I don't know how he manages to do all he does. He doesn't make this personal with request for screening. It was a PCP who charged more for screening, not my pain specialist. I too think it would be a good idea for people to go to psych evaluation. I would give anything in the world to be able to afford to go for psychiatric council. It is beyond my means, and medicare only pays a small amount toward it. If I got coverge for this option, I would be beating down the door to get to one! The only real evaluation I had was for Social security disability requirements back when I applied. Florida, is in a sticky situation. Too many abused and set the stage for this screening to occur. Thanks for your in put. I do like hearing what people think about this situation. ginnie

I just caught a program on TV about Florida's pain centers and the many people from far away states flocking to them. I watched about 10 minutes of interviews of patients stating and laughing how easy it is for them to buy drugs. It seemed most of these pain clinics will except no insurance, cash only. The show was one sided it seemed or maybe it wasn't. However, I couldn't watch anymore because my blood pressure started to rise.

It is true. My state of Fla. has a bunch of bad doctors, fake doctors who open clinics to a cash only business for drugs. It is in our news almost daily, that some clinic and doctor associated with it were arrested. Whatangers me even more is, the Good Pain Specialist like the one I have, is being pressured not to prescribe these much needed medications to legimate pain racked individuals. It makes it hard for these good doctors to practice because of what these bad clinic and bad doctors are doing.
I would take a test, and I sure abide to the letter for what my doctors tells me to do. I feel blessed that I found a legitimate excelent pain specialist. I never went to one of these bad clinics, nor ever considered it, you could tell anyway who they were, by the lines out the door. I got a referal from both my PCP and my neurosurgeon who to go to. I thank my God above I had good physicians in my life. Down here a few bad apples are spoiling the bunch. ginnie
