Default Tongue Pain

Hello
I did a few google searches and searched in this forum and there seems to be a few articles about Tongue pain and RSD.
this has been going on for a year or 2 with me.
the only thing that brings me relief is by rubbing some Blistex. strange but true.

there are white blotches on each side of my tongue and over all soreness.
the doctor thought it might be a b-12 deficiney, but i have been taken the supplement for over a month no change.

any thoughts?
Hugs and Merry Christmas
Lori

Great!
Another thing to worry about now that I believe my RSD is spreading to my jaw and gums...

LORI,
Count nothing out, ,from RSD.
It doesn't mean that Everything is caused by it, but, we're all test 'dumbs'.
I've had this since 83. Like that.
And, so much has been attributed to it, and against it.
What a PIA~~!
Sorry.

But, stand yer ground!
I'm with you!
It's tough ground, I know!

What can we do?
If I had the answer, or the wand, ,I'd tell ya!

In the mean time,
lotsa love, and feelings!

Anything you can take to help increase your immune system is probably a good thing. I've started taking Vitamin C 3 times per day. Have you tried using seasalt as mouthwash? It might sting a bit, but it works well for infected tonsils. If you haven't attempted Hooshmand's 4 F's diet, I can't recommend it more highly. I notice when I don't follow it even for a few days my body revolts now--things like bladder infections, breaking out, etc.

Lori
Have you seen more then one dr? I would recommend you see an ent (ear, nose and throat) I have heard of people getting blisters in their mouth and tongue. But my medicated brain, can't think of the word.
I do know there is a medicated mouthwash they can give you. I'm sorry that your in pain.

Hi Lori,
Sorry about the mouth pain. I have suffered with rsd in my mouth and jaw for many years. I recently had another rsd person I know tell me about brandy. I got a small bottle of regular old brandy ($3.99) and when my three infected teeth hurt I take two small eye droppers of brandy and put it once on the top of my mouth by the first infected tooth (waiting to have it pulled) but not close to it or the cold eye dropper hurts and let it drop on the area and then do the same thing on the bottom gum. I thought it "might" help and wow was I sorry I didn't try it a long time ago. It numbs the area a bit and takes away the throbbing pain. I use it every night now before bedtime and it helps me so much.

Another thought I had was maybe you have thrush in your mouth and that will def cause white spots and pain in your mouth. You may have an overabundance of yeast in your body which set it off. I had thrush once and the doctor cured it real quick...I think he gave me a mouthwash or some thrush killer med...it was so long ago. So check with your doctor first to see if he can cure it. Having rsd is enough to deal with. Good luck. I have also used warm water and hydrogen peroxide as a gargle to help with a sore throat and maybe that would help you kill bacteria or whatever it is until you can get to the doctors. Also, change your toothbrush alot and some toothbrushes have a tongue cleaner on the toothbrush which may help fight the infection too. Listerine may help too. Good luck and let us know how you make out.
Best of luck,
kathy d

Default thank you for upur reply

Thank you everyone for your thoughtful replies. I know all about thrush, and i thought i had that at first and trfeated it with nystatin oral, but no thats not it now.
it is a mystery like alot of rsd seems to be. the only thing that gives me relief is blistex red and white tube as bizzarre as that sounds.
i am so sorry for what everyone goes through with this illness. may a cure be found this in 2012! let it be our year to be made well and whole
Blessings
Lori

I have a problem with chewing on my tongue and lips. It's probably a side effect of one of the medications. I also have a problem with accidently biting the tongue during the night. I haven't identified a cause for this yet but it could be related tothe other issue.

This probably has no bearing on your problem but in my younger days tongue injuries usually became infected. If you think this could be related you might talk to your doctor about cutting back or replacing the medication you started at that time.
