Default Prayers, Meditations, Poems...Words of comfort

I very often need words of comfort so I go looking to the Bible, poetry books, internet...So I thought I would ask you to share if you would like...your favorite meditations, verses, poems ect.

This is not meant to start a religious debate or to offend anyone. If this thread doesnt appeal to you, please just pass by it as you would any other thread you didnt want to read or reply to. I am looking for help for myself and thought maybe someone else needs the same comfort I am looking for.

As I went searching for does Prayer make a difference?
Here was what the article said:

The Difference Between a Person Who Is Sick...and a Sick Person

A patient who is sick wakes up in the morning and says ‘I have a lot to do, and it’s going to be hard because I’m sick.’ The sick patient wakes up and says ‘I cannot do anything because I’m sick.’

This is a subtle distinction, and it plays directly upon the ways psychology affects physiology. When illness becomes part of a person’s identity, rather than a transient anomaly, the condition becomes a lot harder to shake, and the person feels the symptoms more severely. You have probably met people in both situations.

How Prayer Can Help

This differentiation is where I think faith and prayer can go a long way towards helping someone to feel better. One thing I’ve noticed, is that most people of faith know that they will get better- it is a belief from which they never waver, and this knowledge sets up the psychological conditions which facilitate wellness.

Does this mean you need religion or faith to recover? Of course not. But it does underscore the need for psychological health as well as physiologic health when dealing with chronic pain. If religion is nor part of your repertoire, consider meditation or simply setting aside part of the day for relaxation or breathing exercises to reestablish a connection with your own spirituality and to promote your wellness.

Then when i went further on my journey I found this which really spoke to me and where my Faith is. This is a Mother praying for her Son:

Father God,

You knew today that I would ask this prayer before I did. Which means the need that I bring to the throne You were aware of as well. So for me, for the opportunity to abide in You through this need, I pray...

Father, in my mind, my fleshly mind, there seems to be a proper order to life, the way things should be. But this is not true of life and I know, through Jesus' own words, that there will be trials. Father, there is a young man in our family dealing with chronic pain. His pain radiates to those who love him for they feel his pain with him.

Father, just a touch....a mere breath....from You and he would not only be pain free, but healed. OF COURSE God this is what I ask for him. But Lord, if You are working in His life through this pain, then I pray Your will be done in his life. And OF COURSE I ask that it be accomplished quickly that he won't have to cope with the pain for very long. Because the flesh is weak....I am weak. It is hard to look past the now to the Eternal. To see that every ache here in the natural could carry a Blessing in the Eternal.

Father God, Healer, Comforter, I ask You to meet every need of his spirit, mind, and body. I pray that You give him the strength to endure and the Trust to abide in You. And Father God, I ask this for others who are dealing with Chronic Pain, and whose pain radiates to those who love them. I don't have to know a name, a face, or a circumstance because I believe that You know this already. I just lift them up before the throne today too. For "my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus."

In Jesus' Holy and Precious Name I pray,

Amen

Please add your favorite words of comfort and healing thoughts.
I know it will reach out and help many of us.

Thank you for adding words of comfort and healing. If you have a prayer that has healed someone you know please share that too!
Blessings
Lori

I found this quote recently and for some reason it has brought me a lot of strength. I strive to have faith constantly in my life and I want to be the kind of person who does not turn away from God during trials/afflictions. I believe he give us these in His infinite wisdom and to strengthen us. He knows us individually and knows what we each need to be tested and tried. He can see the big picture and how to make us become what we need to become. I also know that He is there for me to lean and to strengthen me.
Here is the quote:

"When someone has an ailment or an illness and they are healed as the result of a blessing, their faith is being strengthened. But for those who aren’t healed but continue faithful, their faith is being perfected. The first is a faith-promoting experience. The second is faith-perfecting."

Through my experience so far, I have tried to look for the Lord's tender mercies in my life. I believe He is there and aware of me and what I need. I have seen His hand in so many things lately! Whether it is someone who calls to see how I am doing that day, someone brought dinner over out of the blue, the chiro who chatted with the PM dr on her own to bump up my blocks (in same practice), the softening of my husband, etc. So many things. He is there and aware of all of us.

Sorry, don't mean to sound preachy..but this has been something I have been really contemplating lately.

Dear 6Kiddos

Beautifully written! Thank you for sharing. There is no problem sounding preachy. I often have experienced what you are saying. God shows up before we even know we need Him! A quick example for you.
I had worked at a company for 20 years, then i became ill with RSD , i didnt know what it was...but i was in too much pain to go to my office and work so i worked from home. The company was sold and the new owner didnt like me, so after 3 years...he changed my commission schedule and pushed me out of the company. So with Gods incredible blessings, I made one call and got a job with another company who would let me work from home. It was right before Christmas. I went in to sign my contract to work for them, and i am sitting at this huge conference table and they slip a piece of paper over to me and said...lets call this a signing bonus...WOW I turned the paper over and it was a check for 1500.00!!! I had no money at all...and i almost started to cry. so i left and called my hubby on the way home and said get dressed i am taking you out to celebrate. so we had a nice lunch.

Heres the blessings part...we went to lunch and spent about 25.00, i went home and started to do my bills...it was pay day from my old company, and it was just a few days before Christmas. I checked my bank account because i had direct deposit. OMG...my account was 1500.00 short exactly 1500 short! the old company didnt know i would be leaving them for a new job...I hadnt said a word..no one knew. So i only had 400.00 in my account, i had to pay rent ect. I call into the office to tell them there was a mistake.
the new boss said a year ago we advanced you some money and never took in out of your check a little at a time, so we are taking it all back today!

I said this isnt fair...its right before Christmas , how heartless of you. I have no one to borrow from , i cant pay my bills. i had made this company Millions of dollars over 20 years! the next week i quit.

But can you imagine 1500 exactly! Thank you God! Thank you God!
I wrote my new bosses a great thank you note. i didnt want to embarrass my self and tell them what happened and that i was broke. But the next year, i wrote them an email thanking them again.

Thank you for sharing your story and special quote, i will print that one out for my book!

I also believe that prayers and faith are good. "The prayers of a righteous man avails much." During my time with RSD, my favorite songs have been "Day by Day," and "It is Well With My Soul." The words are tremendous. Here is a sample of them: Day by Day and with each passing moment, strength I find to meet my trials here. . .He whose heart is kind beyond all measure, gives unto each day what He deems best. Lovingly, His part of pain and pleasure, mingling toil with peace and rest.

When peace like a river attends my way, when sorrow like sea billows roll; whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say, it is well with my soul.

Hope this is a blessing to you as well. =)

1558a. To say: N. is come to thee, Horus,
1558b. that thou mayest recite for him this great and good word, which thou didst recite for Osiris,
1558c. by which N. may be great; by which he may be powerful.
1559a. His śhm is within him; his ba is behind him;
1559b. his śpd is upon him, which Horus gave to Osiris,
1559c. that N. may rest in heaven, as a mountain, as a support.
1560a. He shall fly as a cloud to heaven, like a heron;
1560b. he shall pass by the side-locks of the sky;

Thanks Suze. =)

I found several versions of each on iTunes. I found the more peaceful ones and downloaded them into my iPod. =) I love music. It definitely speaks to my soul. In fact, I pray rsd won't move to my hands so I can play the piano. Anyway, Thanks!
