Default butran patch

My doc has put me on the butran pain patch. Has anyone else used it and how did it work for you? I pick it up tomorrow at the pharmacy ....I am running out of options of pain control.

cindi,

I am on Butran's since November. It has been working well for my pain and allowing me to move about more then normal with miminial discomfort. (the mild winter we have had as helped also).

Hi Cindi,
I have never heard of a Butran patch and am not sure just what is in it but I have tried pepper patches and lidocaine patches. They never helped me and I had a horrible and very painful time taking them off! I will warn you not to put it directly over the most painful area of your body...or else you will be crying in pain when you have to take it off. Unfortunately for me I found out the hard way (and this was before my rsd friends here). I hope it does work for you as it seems to for Alt1268. Good luck and let us know how you are doing with it.

I love the relief I get from this patch, I hate that I am mildly allergic to it. It leaves a big red itchy welt. I'm up to the 20 mcg patch now. Its best on a meaty area like your bum.

I wonder if it's the med itself or the adhesive that you're allergic to. Maybe you could ask your pharmacy if there is possibly any other formulation that doesn't include the adhesive, just so you could test it.

Its the Med in it. I'm allergic to morphine in the same context, itchiness I'll still take it but with benadryl.

Jimsgirl,

I use benedryl spray prior to using. This really helps with the itch.

Thanks all...I am not liking it so much, so far..it's making me sick to my stomach. I think I would much rather have my pain meds back, but I can't get them until next month because the patches cost so much and I can't get my money back. My doc wants me to turn them into to him before he gives me my Norco back, I guess because he's afraid I will take both at the same time.. is he KIDDING me?!! I don't want to KILL myself!!...they work well as far as the pain goes, but I think it's too much for me.
