Alisha, do you have a family doctor who could help you out? Maybe not with the replacement of the pain meds, but with the withdrawal symptoms. If money is an issue (and when is it not with this disease) your family doctor may even have samples. Keep hanging in there girl, you will make it. Blessings, Lisa

In my opinion, I would go cold turkey ANY DAY before I took a single Kratom. I did much research & spoke to many who "Loved It". I guess if you like feeling "High" and "Stoned" all the time, then yes, Kratom may be for you, but I personally don't take the Opiates for a "stoned" feeling AND I never feel "High" from the Morphine Long Acting. I agree with you - just because it is from "Nature" it is ok. Well, where do people think Heroin originates ... Poppy - Nature. My advice, based on MY personal experience is that Kratom is much more of a "drug" that people would become mentally dependent on simply for the "High". I am no light-weight when it comes to drug tolerance, like I've said, I've taken Morphine and Fentanyl for years, off & on. I will NEVER touch Kratom again. That is my personal experience, and your advice to Check it Out Thoroughly is Great Advice; however some like that "High" Feeling. I don't. I just want my pain to go away. I Agree with your advice 100% - but even then it may not be what is best for each individual. |

Just an FYI that, as noted in his signature, the member here with user name Dr. Smith is *not* a medical or any other kind of doctor, but the member chose that user name from a character in the TV series "Lost In Space"

Actually, switching from 30mg to 20mg of Kadian might not be fun, but you shouldn't go through withdrawals IMO. Just push the time forward as many hours as possible every day to make up the missing days. I believe grapefruit juice will intensify the effects of morphine, so you might want to see if that could help you...
If you're nose starts running for no reason, then you're in withdrawal, btw. My pain contract states meds will only be replaced if a police report is made. If this is the 1st time this has happened and you're a long term patient, this seems a little hard core. |

Thanks to everyone for your advise & help. My PM doctor and I did speak a few days later and she ended up replacing my medication.
As many of you said may happen I have been going through a very bad flare this week that actually started 5 days after I was back on my regular doses. This whole experience really opened my eyes about physical dependency on narcotics and am trying to form some type of long term plan to be done with them - more PT, behavorial therapy, alternative therapy, etc. I am definitely taking more precautions about where my meds are kept now! |

I'm glad that you have gotten support from your doctor now, Alisha.
Do you know who the culprit was ? I would talk to the police and let them know what has happened.

2 things I was told by 1 my doctor "lock all of this up" , 2(from the police) "watch who you let in your house. a person without any 2 front teeth is a big red flag." Appearently persons who do crack lose there front teeth because of smoking to much crack. Glad it worked out. Gabbycakes |
