For me fatigue comes from the meds and depression.

I definitely have suffered from fatigue and I think there are a couple of culprits that caused it for me. First was the pain. Constant, intense pain just drains you. The other is the lack of sleep many of us suffer from. Your body needs rest and we often don't get enough of it because of the pain and the disruptions in our sleep cycles. It's made a huge difference since I started getting 6 or more hours of consecutive sleep most nights. I do not fatigue as quickly and have a lot more energy. It's easy to under estimate how big of an impact this has on our lives.

I'll chime in with one other factor--diet. Since I started following the 4 F's plan I'm not sleeping my life away...

Thanks for all your responses. The reason I asked is because last night I slept all night and then took a five hour nap. I guess you can call it a nap. I get an overwhelming exhaustion feeling almost every day. Most nights I'm up all night in pain and don't sleep until that next night. It's a vicious cycle. Between the pain, fatigue and insomnia, I'm about to lose it. I tried Lyrics but the side affect I had was I couldn't walk straight. My balance was off and that scared me so I stopped taking it. Also, I stopped all meds for two days to see if they were causing the exhaustion and there was no change. Starting my meds again tomorrow. Going to see if my family doctor will give me B-12 shots again. It helps for a few days.

Hope everyone has a good night!

I didn't start sleeping through the night until I started abilify. I tried sleeping with a bed cradle to keep sheets and blankets off my foot, it didn't help. So I found that I was napping and still nap through out the day. Some days are so bad, I sleep most days in the recliner.

The constant nagging pain, the side effect from all of the meds we take, the poor sleep patterns that many of us have..... all of these things contributes to fatigue.

And let's not forget the toll that CRPS takes on our mental health.

Add it up and you get fatigue. Most of us have it; it's very common with CRPS. It's just a matter of "degree".

Depending on what meds you're taking, it can be very dangerous to quit taking them. And some will take weeks to get out of your system, so two days isn't a good test... With meds or without, RSD is a monster. The important thing is to slowly introduce new medications, one at a time, so that you are very clear about the side effects and can determine which benefits outweigh them.

For me fatigue seems to be a combination of doing too much and having too much pain. I'm so exhausted that even breathing becomes a herculean task but it usually passes in fifteen minutes and just leaves me a little tired.
