My question is, my er doctor had no clue what i was talking about when i say rsd. so im scared when i find a new ortho doctor they are not going to know what is going on. I am new to the rsd thing and i dont know what questions to ask. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have rsd in my right arm. I have had some issues with both my legs the last couple weeks, and today my ankle just rolled right under me. (my left foot is broken now) |

Well the bad thing s immobilization is not good with RSD. You might want to see if you can get a series of sympathetic blocks as a preventative measure to combat spread. As soon as the cast is off warm water PT would be ideal.

I got Rsd 3 years ago. I had a series of 3 sympathetic nerve blocks, and immediately after the first blco my RSD spread to my right hand, arm, and shoulder. So all I'm saying is be careful with the blocks! Warm water PT will be a very good option though...it helped me Good Luck! Sorry to hear about your foot

First I would print off the er and hospital paper work from the rsds website. Second would you qualify for Medicaid. Sometimes when you have a proven disease they will pick you up know matter what your earnings are. Sorry about the broken foot.

So sorry about your broken foot.
I don't have RSD but I have had a lot of broken bones over the past 10 years. Considering that you don't have insurance, I thought I'd mention that I got great pain relief from ice. I broke 4 ribs, my pelvis, sacrum, ulna, radius .... and each time the pain responded much better to ice than to the Morphine I was given by the hospital doctor. Give it a try, it certainly can't hurt. I hope that you feel better soon.

Ice is absolutely contraindicated in RSD. The good thing...pain meds are usually inexpensive!

Most of us with RSD can't tolerate ice, but it can damage those that don't feel it as well.

You poor thing. Hopefully you will not have a spread. Please research RSD and vitamin C. There was one or more studies that showed a reduced chance of initial and spread of RSD after carpal tunnel surgery if the patients took 500 mg of vitamin C for 50 days, starting with the day of the surgery. It may be a waste of money, but it might help and it is cheap. Maybe someone more familiar with this will chime in here. And wiggle your toes. Any movement is a good thing.
Good luck. |
