Hope all of you are having better days!
I have been plagued by changing weather which is causing me severe pain, spreading of hypersensitivites, and inablility to sleep for even 2-3 hours. I'm getting very worn down, but I am heading to Duke Univ. Med. School for evaluation. I will be seeing a doctor who is supposed to be very familiar with treating RSD patients. Are any of you familiar with any doctors there? Any advice for me before I go? Any "words of wisdom" would be greatly appreciated.

I know right where you are coming from!!!! I haven't slept in 3 days.... Im sorry you are going thru this..... I am going in for nerve blocks tomorrow, I will let everyone know how it goes......

I only have fibromyalgia, not RSD thank goodness, but I complained about the spring weather ramping my pain and fatigue up badly, and got some good tips on the Fibromyalgia board... if you want to head over there you might get some support.

Man I think that the lack of sleep is thee worst thing about this whole ordeal.

Even everything else stayed the same, it would be nice to have sleep back.

Hope asked and or posted in the Fibromyalgia a question about to the effect the way I understand it is Fibro close to RSD thats strange that she would ask that because I was thinking the samething because my birth mother that at 38 I meet her she has Fibro .and I have stage 3 RSD and in a chair for almost 4 yrs. So is it ? If anyone knows I really want to know. My pain and where I am in RSD is unliveable at times I just dont know but really need to know because I have a son and it wories me. Can anyone help me with this or is it that no one knows..............Background really is imporatant to me..........no one seems to know about these health issues......

i have mentioned before that i have used tranxene for sleep for years, and it not only gets me a good night's sleep, it also helps with the legs spasms at night ... hope this helps someone.

I did not even know what Fibro was until about 3-4 months after RSD got a hold on me. When I began to talk to my pain doctor about the new mystery pain and soreness, he began to push and prod me at several known Fibro points. Several of the places he pushed on really hurt. He then told me that they don't know why it happens, but it is not uncommon in his experience to see Fibro symptoms develop following RSD.

Im trying to understand everything My pain and raising my teen son alone and living in a wheelchair and not walking in 4 yrs since my broken foot and I still have my cast on after 4 yrs. Life has chaged so much. Im going through a depression time for awhile and I dont seem to be able to shake it .My pain level is in the 20s all the time and all the ijnections ans stimaltors and pumps they have done hasnt worked and also have a bad scare tissue problem and Im going to have 3 more big surgeries one is a feeding tub in my stomach. I have Fibromyalgia also and have been told by both my rheumatologist and pain specialist that someone with any pain condition is more likey to succumb to another pain condition.
For me personally, I can tell the difference between the pains, I am at a full body stage of CRPS and would relish the thought of having my fibromyalgia only as the pain is more able to be soothed! Of course this is just my take on it.
