Default Peripheral Nerve Catheter

I just met with a new pain management doc. as I had a drastic negative reaction, the next step he wants is a peripheral nerve block, with infraclavicular placement. It is a continuous nerve block. Will have meds infused via pump. Procedure is planned under sedation and catheter will be in place at least 3 weeks. Has anyone ever heard of this or had this procedure done?

My doc suggested something similar. Do you know if this cath is placed inside around the collar/chest area? If so I'd like to hear feedback as well.

Morgan Herritage, yes this is the procedure scheduled. have to see if workman's comp will approve. My RSD as "old" as he put it as it happened over a year ago. As he put it, there are step and this is just another...he gave me info on a spinal cord stim. but that is down the line yet. I only hope this will work

Hi
When I saw a pain doctor at Cleveland Clinic in OH I was suggested the tunneled epidural catheter for around 3 weeks too. The 3 week was to put me in PT which that in turn was supposed to help the RSD. I did not do it though. One I had not heard of many doing it other then people who go to Cleveland Clinic and the ones who did seemed to have problems with the catheter. Of course everyone is different. I see you are in MI? That is where I am from in Oakland County. I dont live there now but I could suggest a pain doc if you want. I have seen a few and though dont live in MI anymore one there I would suggest over ones I saw at Cleveland Clinic or like at UCLA. Anyhow good luck in what you decide.

daniella, If you have the name of someone in MI, please let me know who. I live in Macomb county, but the majority of docs I have seen are in Oakland county.
