Not sure what that means. I had a Stellate Ganglion block before surgery and it worked so well that I thought the surgery had worked for 3 weeks.

Bier blocks are routinely done in surgery, but I've read that the increase in RSD developing after surgery has been questioned if the two were linked. I should hunt that up...

I'd verify what you're getting, how they perform it, and what meds will be used. Then research it!

A sympathetic block done properly is a very good idea before surgery!!!

The RSDSA news publication that I just recieved today had an excellent article re; surgery and RSD and guidelines as to blocks before surgery. Are you a member of RSDSA-if not I highly recommed that everyone join. The publications keep you up to date and are good references so I keep all of them. If you are not, call Jim Broatch at RSDSA and I am sure he wil send you the news letter. Fondly-Carol

I would ask your Dr. what kind of block they are talking about. There is several out there and they can be useful prior to surgery.

Default Perhaps foraminal? I get those because of my bad back

I may be wrong. I think it has something to do with the spine.
