Unhappy Migraines and RSD?

I have been having a really really rough time with the RSD... it seems to be getting worse and worse. Since it spread to my face/ neck/ jaw area, I am now getting major migraine headaches. I am in SO much pain.

I am going to see my PCP, and she might be able to get me something for the migraines... we'll see. I sure hope so because just looking at the computer screen feels like it is flashing at me, making my head pound MORE. And noise and lights hurt me terribly. I am at loss of what to do... I have been using cool/ heat on my head, I have taken Motrin, Tylenol, Aleve (none work)... and I am just trying to be in a quiet place with no lights (or close to none).

I haven't dissapeared... just trying to figure out what to do with this whole mess of RSD symptoms. My face is tingling off/on, I am having numbness in my face and then ringing in my ears quite a bit... I really hope to find a neurologist!

Anyone else have migraines from the RSD? What has helped you? TIA.

Thank you for the input on the jaw/ RSD everyone. That was helpful.

Is your screen refresh rate set as high as possible?
That might help a bit for the computer part of the problem.

Unhappy I have migraines too.

Hi InHisHands,
I'm so sorry your going through such a bad time with your RSD. Some of the medicine I am on for my migraines help with the RSD too. When I have a bad migraine my doctor prescribed Zomig Nasal Spray that's a big help when I am bad. Also when I am really suffering with a migraine and the Zomig dosen't help I am allowed to take pain medicine, but no more than two days a week. The doctors fear that you can start in a rebound headache which that is suppose to be bad too. Hopefully your doctor can give you something for the migraine when its bad. Take Care I will keep you in my prayers and find releif soon.

Anyone else have ideas for these migraines?

They are getting pretty bad with me... I have an ongoing headache from the facial RSD. My Dr tried imitrex with me and it was working, but stopped. I cannot get rid of the headache totally. It has been up and down... It gets so bad that I get really really nauseas, vomiting, dizzy, double vision, and faint (I fainted once this past week).

Right now I am taking some pain meds until I get in to see a neurologist, and they help somewhat and I can do things (but once it wears off I'll be in even more pain). These headaches are TERRIBLE and I need some relief!! Ideas are greatly needed.

Just a quickie, Vanessa,

I have daily migraines, and can only cope by taking Cafergot, or anything with ergotamine in it. But these are frowned upon now, indeed in the list of US gov med prescription changes posted by Mike recently, ergotamine for migraines is listed as one med that should not be prescribed for that anymore.

Won't affect me, you can get virtually anything here, just over the counter. Which is good because, although I know they ain't so good for you - and conflict with many meds too - it works for me like a charm. You've got to take it the moment the migraine begins, then it just stops it dead. Brilliant, couldn't cope otherwise.

But my headaches are caused by the spinal stenosis and cervical spondylosis in my neck, not the RSD. Anyway, more tomorrow if you need it,

all the best

I have had migraines since about 14 months after the RSD started. Only recently have they been relieved a little, and I think it is due to Ultram, which the PM doc prescribed for generalized pain. Not totally gone, but better.

I suggestion from someone who's business hinges on computers and data processing. -- if you have fluorescent lighting, switch to incandescent, like a table lamp. Fluorescent lights have a natural flicker, and so does the screen. This can set up a flashing if things are just right. (Really, just wrong.) Don't go completely dark (or dim) in your office. A muted, yellow light is best for working on a PC.

Care,

Mike
