I went up to see my surgeon yesterday and while I was waiting for him in his examining room I started getting too hot. I had to go looking for something to fan myself with. I used a pamphlet to fan myself to get cooled down.
I had to take a Methadone while I was waiting for him and I was so uncomfortable sitting there. I started paceing the floor until the pain subsided. The pelvic pain is what I deal with when I get too hot. The reason being that's the nerve pain that hasn't been delt with with a block yet. I never have had a block for the lower half of my body and it's because of all of the other things I have been dealing with these days. I was sitting here at the computer yesterday and got the room to hot and I just really go into something like a panic attack. I jump up and start looking for ways to get cooled down as quick as I can. I get really stressed and have to stop what I'm doing to get the pain calmed down. I can't stand and talk to people if I get like this. I have had to pop pills in front of people and I don't like doing that. I'm pretty private when it comes to my meds and what I am going through with my friends and family. The Dr. that took care of me in the ER last week said that I am part German and he can tell that I hold things in and that makes me worse. He said he was the same way. Anyway, I just wanted to know if any of you deal with this kind of problem. Thanks, Ada |

I once had that problem, seemed like I was gonna burst into flames if I didnt find a way to cool down. Wouldnt really be sweating so much as just flamin hot.
I have noticed in the past month or so that I havent had an episode since I went off pain meds. Made me think that maybe the 2 are related?? You might bring that up with your doc next time. Hope you get to fellin better ![]()

I have the same problem also and have found the best thing is to keep the paddle fans on in the house and also when I am going out anywhere I have purchased a small fan that is battery operated that will fit in my pocket book that works wonders, hope this helps, and for guys it can also fit on your key ring.

I have the same problems. just tonight we were sitting in the LR and I was complaining that it was too hot. My daughter put her hands on me and she was very cold. Hubby said the same thing about being cold. I was glissening it was so warm. They just don't understand...I keep the BR fan on and the window open if it is 55 or below.

When you mentioned the fans, I grabbed mine and stuck it in my purse. It was satting right on the coffee table. LOL. I have the one that is a key chain. I got it at the Dollar Tree last year and I keep forgetting about it.
I also have one that I found at Six Star that is about 3 inches high that you can either hold or it has a stand that you can put it in. Pretty neat. I'm amazed at how long the batteries last in them. I think I have had the bigger one for 3 years and the littler one for 2 and the batteries are still going. I used them for those 2 summers. I also looked up and noticed I have a ceiling fan in my kitchen. Duh! I'm going to have the kids put one in the living room. I have a swamp cooler for the whole place but sometimes they get it too cool. Allen, I was going to say about the med. I'm not on much Methadone but that could contribute to it. I have noticed though even with the med in me and not having the side effects that come with it if I forget to take it, I still have the problem. I have been using a fan in the bedroom for about 4 years. Bill use to say I was freezing him to death. Our Dr. would laugh at me and tell me about how Bill complained he stayed cold all of the time and I stayed hot. That was our biggest complaint I think. Anyway, thanks for the replies and I'm sorry to hear that others have it. I just wish I could figure out exactly what is causing it. Ada |
