Default What to do?

What do I do? My pcp is the one who manages my pain, and so there for she manages my pain meds. And she went out of town, i was not aware she was going out of town. And i ran out of my meds yesterday and so the office told the other dr and there refusing to give my meds! My dr isnt coming back for another 2 weeks and obvisly i cant wait 2 weeks! The NP said i had to come in for a med check and it specifically says i dont need a med check for 3 months in my chart and even the desk person said that and they said they wont refill my meds. Its because they wanted to see me, but we know the person and unless its a "visable" thing they wont help! I dont know where else to go for help.

Default Hello Tos

So sorry this happened. If your pain is out of sight, write down the sequence of events, and go into the ER. Your doctor should never have left you in a situation like that, especially if he has you on some kind of opiate. I would suggest you find a good pain specialist. I go to a pain specialist/physiatrist. She has never left me for vacation, without taking my medications into consideration. Don't hesitate going into the ER if you have to. I know how bad that RSD hurts. ginnie

sorry you are going through this. I have to agree with ginnie if you are in lots of pain go to the er. I would also recommend finding a new dr. (I know this does not help at the moment) Again, sorry.

Thankfully after going back and forth with them on the phone, tonight right befor the closed of course, they called me to tell me i could pick up the scripts tomorrow. Yes im on 2 narcotics and i know thats why they didnt want to fill them. I thought about the ER and our local ER would be awful. As for PM drs, ive tried 3 and when your 22 they dont like to give you meds eather. I am going to make an appt with one at Hopkins that ive already seen 4yrs ago, but im holding my breath there. I havent been able to find much help besides my PCP.

Default Hi Tos

Hopkins has a wonderful reputation. I hope they can help you. Believe me, it is not just your age, regarding the prescribing of opiates. All doctors hesitate, and in my state of Florida, where abuse is high, even more so. Hope you get the help you need. Glad you didn't have to go to the ER. Your PCP really should have told you ahead of time, about leaving town. All my best to you....ginnie
