Default Knee and hand joints locking up when sleeping

This joint freezing while sleeping is so painful ,,,, if I take Advil before bed it helps a bit. Does this happen to anyone else?

I definitely get stiff, and have issues with all my joints. (But your situation seems substantially worse.) When I sleep away from my own bed it's much, much worse. It takes several days for them to get back to normal pain levels. I have a spring mattress, with foam and a pillowtop. There are times I put a down pillow between my knees and/or behind my back as well. My dog sleeps attached to me most of the time, and her extra warmth seems to help--she's a live heating pack essentially, lol.

Before I got on a combo of meds that worked for me, I was frequently dealing with insomnia and that lack of good rem sleep exacerbated everything!

Default stiffness

My hand often cramps closed when i sleep so i take a muscle relaxer at bedtime and it does help a bit. I have to continually use my hand or it stiffens.

Shocked

I thought I was going crazy with this!!!!!!

I have had this happening for months.....off and on.

It doesn't matter if I take a muscle relaxer before I go to bed or not.

It IS SUPER PAINFUL when I wake up!!!! It takes a LONG time before I can move and even longer to get out of bed!!!!
