I tried it at one point but I gained a lot of weight with that even in just 2 weeks and I never got up to the full dosage so I stopped. Hope it works for you and doesnt cause weight gain.

It's worked alright for me. I don't think it's made me gain but a few pounds. But some of the other side effects like amnesia, difficulty with coordination, and feeling drowsy or tired have affected me. I've been on it for a few months, near six I think, and I'm having to raise my dosage now. But it does for the most part work for me.

Theraputic doses of gabapentin are upwards of 3000 mg, so building your self up to that level will take some time. Most people are used to the drug by the time they titrate up to that dose.
With that being said, i am currently on 1800 mg a day, along with other meds, and I'd like to say it helps. I have gained weight and I know it's from neurontin because every few months I'll stop for a couple weeks and loose some water weight I accumulate. That is the only side effect and I can live with that.

I tried it and it did nothing for me. I switched to Lyrica and it substantially improved my spinal pain. It is an expensive med though.

Gabapentin is absolutely the cornerstone medication for my CRPS. The efficacy of it has been verified when we tried to wean off of it two separate times.

As others have mentioned, "your results may vary". It doesn't work for all, but does work for many. Sometimes a little tricky to find the correct dosage as with many drugs.

I have found from a number of doctors that gabapentin is very often the first drug tried when a person is suspected of having CRPS.

I gained 70 pounds in 2-3 months on neurontin. And, I was careful about what I Ate! My final dose was 3800 mg per day. Even at that rate, all it did was make me fat, and dumb. Could not concentrate to do simple math.

Switched to topamax. Never lost the weight, even though topamax is supposed to have side effect of weight loss.

It helped a little. Not really enough to warrant using it.

Now that I am on Medicare part d for meds, I cannot afford it.

Tried Lyrica. It was even worse than neurontin for me. A nightmare.
