Default symptom question

Can RSD cause problems with the thyroid? My doctor recently found a large nodule on my thyroid and I was wondering if my RSD has anything to do with this? Anyone else have this problem? I am only 24 and feel like I don't need more problems. sigh..... so sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Did they do a biopsy, does it hurt. 2 years ago at age 23 this happened to me my thyrid swelled at first it didnt hurt and they drained and biopsied it and nothing came back as for cancer but then a week later is happened again but this time there was lots of pain and was puting me into flares so they decided to take it out well once it e=wasout they found out it was cancer and the doctors thanked my mom for pushing for it to be removed cause if not they wouldnt have caught it. Not to scare you just make sure its really check down to every detail. How big is it? Mine was about 2in wide and an 1in swollan. We to first blamed it all on RSD but sometimes you need to be totally sure that your not missing something.

I am your age now and know how it feels to not wanting more on your plate and more to worry about. I seem to keep drawing the short end of the stick a year after the thyroid I was diagnosed with sarcoidosis in the lungs and liver and now has spread to the stomach and with full body RSD.

I wish your the best and hope it turns out to be nothing to worry about, I do know I have also had swollan nodules in my arms and neck due to the RSD.

I have to agree, definitely need at least a biopsy. I went through a time, long before I had rsd, where my thyroid was enlarged also. I had a biopsy also, and it came back mixed. So the dr. said lets follow. It now is normal size and I have had no problems. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies, def. helpful, I got an ultrasound of my thyroid today and will get the report and then will probably have to get a biopsy after that. Hoping its nothing serious. Worried about an RSD flare if I have to get it surgically removed. It freaks me out a little that you can see the nodule when I swallow and even when I don't. I just feel so stupid that I didn't see this before. The doctor was shocked no other doctor had pointed it out to me.

I hope this turns out to be benign, musicgirl. Many malignant thyroid tumors are well managed by surgery.

Make sure all the docs involved are aware of your RSD issues and the recommendations for surgery for those will RSD. Research has shown that nerve blocks to the surgical area can help lesson the risk of RSD spread to the new surgical area.

I'm sorry that you are dealing with this burden too. My prayers for a healthy resolution.
