Forgive me if this has been covered, but it's late and I don't have the energy to sift through all the posts.
I'm wondering if CRPS really can affect eyesight and eyes in general? It seems like since my dx of crps and specifically in the past month or two, my distance vision is getting worse and worse. I feel like I need a whole new Rx for my glasses and it hasn't been all that long since my last one! Maybe it's just age. After all, I am 45 years old and I hear your eyesight just goes downhill from there! ![]() Also, I have noticed that when I get tired, my right eye starts to hurt and squint kind of all on its own and I have a hard time keeping it open. Any ideas? Experiences? Thoughts and/or suggestions? ![]() Thanks a ton for any and all responses! ![]() |

Hi Kymmie, sorry you are having trouble with your eyes. I would say that yes, CRPS can affect your eyes. I am 46 and have noticed a huge change in my vision lately. I am sure a portion of it has to do with my age, but there are times that it is definitely worse. I have RSD/CRPS in the right side of my face and within the last year I have noticed that it gets squinty and droopy (and goopy) when I am really tired and before a flare.

Rsd can def affect your eyes. The person who started rsd hope, got rsd uh his eyes first. That being said, meds and aging can also effect vision..p

Yes!!!!! This just happened to me. Painful and burning, and very hard to see. I use drops constantly.

Oh, this is not good news at all. I appreciate the responses, but it's really not what I was hoping to hear. Dang it!
So, let's say this is CRPS in at least one eye. Would it make the blood vessels weaker? Weak enough, maybe, that if I were to have an uncharacheristically (ahem), shall we say, difficult, time in the bathroom, it would burst one or two blood vessels? What should I do? Anything? Maybe I should ask the doc... I'll be seeing my pain doc tomorrow for my stim trial procedure and its not like he can miss it or anything! Thanks! Last edited by Kymmie67; 03-05-2013 at 02:38 AM. |

Iam so sorry your having problems with your eyes. I have RSD in my eyes they are red, burn so they are always draning. They swell quite a bit and I had 4 blood vessels burst because it couldnt take the pressure. When my eyes are buring I was have eye drops wih prednisone in it which stops the buring pain.

Thank you for the help. Funny how nothing on the Internet re: broken blood vessels in the eye mention CRPS. And yet, I've since found mention of burst blood vessels in the eyes with searches for CRPS. Interesting. Just shows how ignorant the world still is re: CRPS!

Hi, I'm sorry to hear you are having vison problems. My daughter who has CRPS has also been having problems with her vision. According to H. Hooshman MD a well known RSD expert RSD patients frequently develop blurrring of vision, reading difficulty, problem with focusing, dizziness in the form of vertignous attacks ( either the body or the objects moving around). As well as hearing problems such as buzzing in the ear ( tinnitus) You can read his additional comments by googling RSD puzzle list which will take you to his list. As others have commented other factors may come into play other than RSD so the better part of valour would be to have a through eye examination by an ophthalmologist. Hope this helps. Good luck. |

My ophthalmologist dxed mine. My vision is 20/30 to 20/40 with glasses. I get the blood vessels, red eyes, pain, burning. I also use steroid drops and gel tears. I also get ear rings, but I always thought I was nuts lol. Gotta love RSD making sane people feel nuts!
