I haven't read through this whole thread yet, but it is interesting that it is so prevalent on the left side. I wonder if it is somehow connected to the fact that many people who have strokes typically suffer loss of use of the left side.

I tried to find an attorney to take my case. My surgeon hacked my arm(did 3 surgeries 2 within 3 months of each other). The last surgery he split my arm from above my elbow to past my wrist. Leaving me with limited use of the arm and hand, nerve damage and RSD. No one would take the case They have to prove a breach in standard of care. IMO because it wouldn't be an easy settlement they didn't want to deal with it. Who cares that he disabled me and ruined my life!!

Yep, the auto immune stuff, RSD and fibro are a part of that whole thing too. Doesn't it make you wonder if doctors see this connection? ginnie

Right hand due to a double wrist brake

Mine started in my left ankle when I sprained it. No great story here either sorry. But I am enjoying your curiosity.

Having a crappy hour here after going for a short walk in the sunshine with my husband....

What interests me (as well as this whole discussion lol!) is that before I had the operation that set off CRPS on my left knee, I had had unexplained neuro symptoms in my left leg for a couple of years - pins and needles, numb patches, aches and pains, some sensitivity... I saw my GP several times about it, and saw a neurologist twice. I found a diary I kept for a few days during that time, and I mentioned having a hot red patch on my leg, and another time I had a burning sensation on my skin.

Now was that mild CRPS anyway?! Did the knee op just aggravate it and elevate it to a whole new level? Should the surgeon have been so quick to operate "to see what's going on" given that my notes charted over two years of neuro symptoms in that leg? I had been playing a lot of tennis for about five years, and fell onto that knee once or twice over that time, smacked the raquet into my left shin several times while serving too, but thought nothing of it of course.

This condition is so complex, and I do wonder how much docs even TRY to join the dots sometimes.... It doesn't give you much faith really!

Mine has started in my left foot after I broke the ball of my foot back in Oct. Sorry no cool story but be careful running around without shoes on!!

Very similar to my daughter's story - about a year before onset of RSD, we kept taking her to doctors because she was just tired and feeling weird and we couldn't figure it out ...

Anyway, here's the update :

Lower left : 19
Upper left : 4

Lower right : 6
Upper right : 4

So as of now, it's lower ahead of upper by 25 to 8, and left ahead of right by 23 to 10, and lower left ahead of everything else by quite a bit!

Glad you kept the tab. I sure wish we all knew how to stop this once it starts. It does seem like an injury is what starts the pain. thank you, ginnie
