Default Constipation

Hi,,,I am having extreme constipation which I think is in part due to weakening stomach muscles. After a miserable week of the big D after taking a strong laxative, I am back to hard, incomplete movement and , as my son calls it ..prairie dogging, I started miralax and co lace today,,,,still can't complete the task,,
Thoughts?,
Ps,,I am off all meds but Xanax

It is miserable thing to have....I do hope you get some relief soon.

Try prune juice. It was the only thing that worked for my daughter, and I used it myself when taking codeine and struggling a lot in that area. I found the meds and tablets of little use in comparison.

Take a small glass of it three times a day to start with, and then once a day once you are more comfortable. It tastes ok, and it's natural and full of vitamins too

Bram.

There was a thread on this lovely topic back on April 18th that had a variety of responses - try this link : http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread187179.html

if it doesn't work, just go back a few pages and search for constipation. Good luck! (love the "prairie dogging" - don't you love what kids come up with?!)

ps - give the colace some time; unfortunately it doesn't work in a day I had to go to the colace with a stimulant, not just the regular colace, when I had bad patches.

Hi Deb!!

Wow dang! I have the same trouble, so I eat Raisin Bran, and lots of fruits, plus drink lots of water. It helps alot, but still sometimes things just dont come out like they should

Frown Constipation

As the nutty nurse I see this (and experience it) frequently
Fluids fluids fluids. Walk Walk Walk. Try warming the prune juice, eat any dried fruit keep up on the colase and miralax (may take a while to work) How often and how many Colace a day? (take only what your Doc advises) May need to take the Mira lax twice daily (again as instructed) keep a log of what you have taken and "tweak" as needed, once you find the right "combination" keep up with that!

My pain doc recommended Magnesium for me because for now I have several drugs that cause constipation. It's a frustating side effect!!
She says Magnesium helps the RSD and helps the constipation. I take 500 mg. a few hrs. before bed and of course try to eat lots of fruit and veggies.
Yes, prunes help as well.
Hope you get relief!

I had this problem when I was pregnant and a nutirtionist suggest to me beside the water and prune juice was real maple syrup and fresh pears. Both are natural laxative. The real maple syrup really worked and it taste good. Try it on bran waffles with cut up pears.

good luck
