Not sure where you are from, but I was notified here in Florida that my Medicare has a 24 month wait from when SSDI says you were disabled until the medicare becomes effective. So, then I called ss a few months before I hit the 24 month wait to ask about filling out paperwork and then I found out that in addition to the 24 month wait there have a 6 month deferral added on, so basically your Medicare is not usable until 30 months have passed since your disability. Now, I am way under the "normal" retirement age, so they tack on these stipulations. So I wish you luck, I only have 4 months to go until I get my coverage.
