Default mineral bath

i apologize for forgetting whose post it was, but someone posted about using a mineral bath from walmart and it helped (i don't know why i didn't reply while i was on the right thread, but i didn't and now i can't find the right thread).

the mineral bath MIGHT contain epsom salts.....we've had several people here and on the old forum who swore by epsom salts baths for pain relief....if it is an ingedient, it might be a whole lot cheaper to just buy plain epsom salts and use that.......tho i have confess that if it were my choice, i'd go with the stuff that smells pretty!

Default epsom salts

My Dr. recommends a bath with 2 cups of epsom salts. I like to add essential oils. They have essential oils to help relax and also peppermint is good in the morning to help wake you up. But add it to an oil first as it may burn if you have very sensitive skin. Just a few drops in a few tablespoons of oil. Almond oil is good, you can get it almost anywhere. Be sure the essential oil is pure. If you are blessed to be able to shower, you can put a few drops in the tub and the hot water will fill the room with the essents of your oil of choice. Nice way to wake up or try for a nights sleep-- Carose

Default Whirlpool

Hi

Does anyone know if the epsom salt is safe to use in a whirlpool? I don't want to damage the jets...

Thankyou.

I have a whirlpool and it has not harmed the jets. I pour the salts under the running water and they dissolve before you turn on the whirlpool.

Default foot soaks

Hi--

Epsom salts and lavendar essential oils as well as an essential oil called 'aches and pains' have helped here. I have put lavendar in lotion to massage on my daughter's foot. We are going to have to try the almond oil. She also has tried arnica tablets that has seemed to help. Her doctor uses arnica lotion on herself for muscle pain.

Default It was me, lol

I was the one who posted about the "aches and pains" bath oil.

I would list the ingredients here, but it's way too long. There are no epsom salts in it, though. All sorts of herbs and vitamins, but no epsom salts. A few of them are eucalyptus, wintergreen, aloe, comfrey and witch hazel.

Epsom salts may seem cheaper to most of you, but I don't find that to be the case at all. You need at least two cups, depending on the size of your bathtub. And you HAVE to know the size of your tub... otherwise, epsom salts do no good. The ratio of water to salts must be right on target. With this bath oil, you only use 1/3 cup.

But hey, it was only a suggestion, lol. I have tried them all, and this is the one I like.

I use epsom salt once or twice month.

It seems to do something but I'm not sure exactly what. It seems to do the most when I'm feeling lousy but don't have a high pain level.

I use epsom salts occasionally too, if I am out of my other stuff. I keep some around for my plants. I don't believe it truly matters what we put in our bathwater or soaks, lol. Whatever makes us feel better is all that matters. I doubt very seriously any of it actually DOES anything for our rsd... except the bath itself. It's all a matter of what makes us feel better emotionally. I probably use the bath oil I use because of the smell... the eucalyptus seems like a "medicinal" smell to me, I think that's what makes me feel as if I am doing something for myself, lol.

I love aromatherapy... I have loads of incense, essential oils, sage sticks etc. to use around the house.

Epsom Salts are awesome!

I use the Bath Therapy salts, too. They are the stinky ones! It is one of the few treatments I can actually say works for me anymore.
