Poll RSD and Medicinal Marijuana?

To those in states with medicinal marijuana laws (not to be confused with Marinol) does anyone have any experience with this, and the potential effectiveness of it?

I've heard promising pain-relieving success with a fraction of the side effects of pills...

Does anyone have any experience with this? Or know of anyone who does?

I'm at the end of my rope and seriously considering moving across country to get help...

Please any input you may have would be huge for me! Thank you!!

Yes, I use it, but it only helps to a degree. I have not taken opiates at all for my RSD so I'm really not sure how much difference there is. But I have taken them in the past, I'm sure that they'd work better, but then I would have to take them everyday. I did become physically addicted to Percocet after my trauma from a low dose, so I'm not really eager to try opiates or narcotics again.

MMJ works a little differently for everybody. I assume you've tried it before in your life and knows how it feels for you in general. I don't know the quality of the stuff you have around town, but I'd at least get some to try out before moving. Here it's really good, plentiful, etc. In the clubs you can go in and get it in lots of forms. I need to renew my card and go into a club and try the stuff I can rub on my feet. (I've been lazy and I get mine from my supplier for cheaper). There are strains that work specifically on what we're dealing with. Sometimes I get a strain that I could smoke and smoke and not feel much of anything because it's the wrong type.

For me it allows me to get home from work, smoke a little, do what I need to do, like make dinner. But as I feel like I'm getting worse, that is becoming harder to do, so sometimes it's just enough to keep me from ripping my legs off. Last night my feet hurt horribly because they had been cold all day. I rubbed them to get the blood flowing, trying to desensitize them. It wasn't until I had enough MMJ that I could calm down and feel well enough to eat and relax. I'm always nauseous so it helps that a ton. It allows me at least a couple hours of decent sleep, I don't usually wake up until 3am or so, and then I know I'm sleeping lightly after that and not really getting REM sleep.

Last weekend we had a ton to do and had to go shopping. I had it after about an hour in and out of stores looking for stupid computer parts. I wanted to break down so bad. I got home, smoked a little, and then I could go back out with DH and finish a little of what we needed to do.

It does work on different things then what other drugs do. But I think we all know that happens. The antideppresant vs. antiseizure vs. opiates vs. MMJ. I'm using everything except the opiates (so far). I do need something for breakthrough pain. My pain doc will NOT give me anything because I do smoke MMJ. So there is that to consider, even though I'm in a state that says it's okay. I think a different pain doc would allow it, but the area I'm in doesn't have a lot of docs. So now I suffer and lay in bed or on the couch if I'm in that much pain, I end up smoking all day to keep from crying. That isn't an optimal solution.

Default I can help a little

When I have higher than normal pain, and not an actual flare, it can help to get to sleep sometimes. I prefer an edible version ei: brownies. You get more of a "body high" with the edibles instead of feeling the pain and just a bit more stupid. Opiates still work better for me for the bulk of pain control but it can help.

I've never tried it, but if it's legal here, which I think it is now, i may if I ever get to the point where nothing else I'm taking right now helps.

I use it daily, legally. Yes, it definitely helps. Does it make me completely pain free, no, but it does take the edge off, or help with nausea from other meds. It really helps me get to sleep and I am thankful for that. I also have a CBD syrup that I use. There is no euphoric from it because it is very low in THC, but the CBD’s help calm the nerves in the body.

I posted this once before, but if you get a minute, check out this video on MMJ and CBD’s. It’s scientific and interesting.
