Default CRPS weather changes and stress.

So the weather is changing, I just moved, and am stressed beyond belief. My husband is still living up where my son and I moved from and I am essentially a pregnant single mom. With the weather change I am in a worse flare than my usal flares. I can't do any of the therapies because of stress to this pregnancy, except a norco once every week or 2. Ive done Epson salt soaks, heat pads, elevating my legs as much as I can with an active 2 ur old around and nothing works. I love both my babies and I don't want to be induced because it wouldn't be healthy for my new baby. At the same time I am done being pregnant and want to start treatment again so I can be more active with my boys. Yes I'm whining. I have already had to go to labor and delivery because I couldn't get the pain under control. I am going stir crazy because I'm on partial bed rest. I am also trying to find a PM dr here and either they are rude and ignorant or rude with a god complex. I have send in my records, be interviewed, and say yessah massah, just to get an appt to be examined. Thats not even talking to the dr just his or her PA. I have tried to call up just to see if they are knowledgeable about this disorder, and they won't even say yes or no. I don't want to waste my time on a dr that has no clue about how to treat me and just wants to inject me or do surgery they have no clue about. Heck the PM here in town says he treats this but when I called no one had even heard of it.

Default Hang in there!

Hey Allanira,

So sorry you are struggling right now. My hat is off to you being pregnant with CRPS, and it sounds like maybe you’re in the last trimester; that’s a tough time CRSP or not, and another little one at home too… you da woman!

My youngest daughter was still in diapers when I had my surgery that rendered me paralyzed from the waist down for a week, woke from surgery with CRPS and I played hell for months learning to walk again. Four months earlier I had lost my mother to breast cancer, and I was in the midst of a divorce, and had just moved into a new home four weeks before surgery and CRPS. So I get the single mom thing or being on your own, although I had two older children at home. At that time they were 11 and 15 y/o. I really leaned on them. My point is that I feel for your situation.

I wish I had something profound to offer, but it is so tough when you’re pregnant because there is so little you can do or take. My last pregnancy I did take a few Vicodin for something unrelated to CRPS (I did not have CRPS while pregnant) and there were no adverse effects on my little girl. Now I’m no doctor and anything you do, as I know you already know, should be discussed with him/her first.

The weather is a huge issue for me too. When the pressure starts to drop, and cold pushes in.. oh boy. The bathes are a good idea. It seems like you are trying all the things that come to mind right away. Are you at least taking some Tylenol and/or ibuprofen? Could you try an antidepressant for pain while pregnant? Rest. Your body is stressed out in more ways than one and rest is all I can think that will benefit you most. You say that you’ve just moved and you’re solo with another little one at home. That’s stressful for sure and all too easy to overdo it.

I totally hear ya on the chore of finding a doctor. We are in a part of the country that finding a knowledgeable physician of CRPS seems damn near impossible. All I know to do about this is just keep pushing until we find one. It’s beyond frustrating on SO MANY levels!!

Bless your heart hon. I wish I had more to offer you. Hang in there girl! You’re doing a fabulous job of managing all that is on your plate right now. REST, REST, REST. Be good to you!

Finally got my referrals to a PM in El Paso. One of the ones I called and they want to interview me. I should be interviewing them. They are treating me. They are working for me not the other way round. Anyway I go to my ob today and will talk to them about meds I can possibly take. I have 7 wks to go then get another beautiful baby boy. I wish my husband wasn't 4 hrrs away. It sucks. I do have my in laws here in town and they can help while I adjust to meds if my ob oks them. I just want to be there more for my oldest son. He's only 2 and needs me. When this little boy is born they will both need me. I can't be layed up. If I take Tylenol I would have to take half the bottle. I have built up a major resistance to it. I can't take ibuprofen it tears up my stomach and I don't need ulcers lol. I think my main thing is I'm stressing too much and have a ton to do to make this place liveable. I need to do dishes. Haven't done them in a week. Well time to make my coffee and do some dishes while my goober boy is sleeping and I have the energy and lower pain for now.
