Default These are all the links I have saved over the last 4 years

and going through them has shown something that I didn’t see before and may indicate that what I believe is the cure has stronger grounds than I knew. 1865 CRPS diagnosed by Silas Mitchell. 1872 Silas Mitchell diagnoses Phantom Limb Syndrome. Papers marked SM. In Oct 2010 I came across a paper by a US doctor who said CRPS pain was Phantom Limb Pain with the limb still attached, what if he was right just putting things the wrong way round, what if Phantom Limb pain is CRPS with the limb removed, still got the pain but there would be none of the Hypersensitivities

Glad you hadn't lost everything after all Kevin

I've wondered about the phantom pain of limb loss similarity to the CRPS pain that shouldn't be there thing as well - both are a symptom of your brain overworking your pain centre. Just that if there's no limb there, you can't see the physical stuff like swelling, sensitivity, burning etc the same.

Saying that, I've heard many times (in medical papers, but also throughout history in literature) of amputees describing how when they get tired their stump burns, or feels hot, and they have to remove their artificial limb - and often the amputation site will look red and sore long after it has healed. Equally there are issues with blood circulation, coldness etc.

I suppose it's a bit like us with the CRPS thing - many other health issues get brushed under the CRPS rug, and there's a danger of missing something that needs treatment. With amputees it must be even worse if the issue is with that particular limb, because inevitably any problem will be associated with the loss of the limb and the major trauma of amputation on the nerves, blood vessels and tissues.

I've tried looking for links before, but any mention of amputation and CRPS together are always about the CRPS patient asking for the limb to be removed.

Bram.
