I had a Stellate-ganglion block. I hated the procedure, and the way it made me feel, but no lasting ill effects.

I've had several SGB's without any long term issues, including any relief

I'd still be open to trying (almost) anything that might offer some relief.

I have had many stellate ganglion blocks, lumbar and cervical blocks, no problems at all.

I guess it is possible to pierce a disk, anything is possible...but don't most use x-ray (fluoroscopy) to make sure they are in the right place??

One block isn't enough to see if this procedure works. Docs recommend 5 or 6 given one or two weeks apart. You can choose to be awake or be lightly put out. I stayed awake because didn't want to feel woozy from anesthesia and had one or two minutes of uncomfortable pain. After 5 blocks that had no affect my pain doc called it quits and we both decided on Spinal Cord Stimulator Implant.

Fluoroscope is used to doc can see if medication was placed correctly and to make sure nothing else was touched. Hope this was helpful.

So it's not that 1 block isn't enough. It would not make sense to have multiple blocks if your particular condition is not sympathetically-maintained.

My first SGB gave me total and complete relief but only very briefly. It gave me a lot of hope when I needed it most. Unfortunately I got very mild RSD at the injection site that still lingers a little. It was worth it though.

Be sure to do as much exercise as possible before the effects of the block start to wear off.
