Default The Pain of Life

Came across this parable today:

An aging master grew tired of his apprentice’s complaints. One morning, the master sent the apprentice to get some salt. When the apprentice returned, the master told him to mix a handful of salt in a glass of water and drink it.

“How does it taste?” the master asked.

“Bitter,” said the apprentice.

The master chuckled and then asked the young man to take the same handful of salt and put it in the lake. The two walked in silence to the nearby lake. Once the apprentice swirled his handful of salt in the water, the old man said, “Now drink from the lake.”

As the water dripped down the young man’s chin, the master asked, “How does it taste?”

“Fresh,” remarked the apprentice.

“Do you taste the salt?” asked the master.

“No,” said the young man. The master then sat beside his apprentice, and explained,

“The pain of life is pure salt; no more, no less. The amount of pain in life remains exactly the same. What matters, however, is the amount of goodness we use to dilute the salt. When you are in pain, the best thing to do is to enlarge your sense of goodness to dilute the pain. Stop being a glass. Become a lake.”

Default 65 Red Roses (Documentary Film)

I watched this docu tonight and couldn't help but think about all the online friends I have made here. Of course these beautiful young gals are way more sophisticated with their video chat and all. It also reminds me of how much support the people on this site have been to me. My God.. there have been times when I really don't know what I've done without some of you.. you know who you are... thank you so much for your support.

So this docu.. My eldest son has Asthma.. So bad when he was young that we nearly maxed out an ins policy and it was the reason the world-renowned respiratory and immunology hospital here in Denver, National Jewish, advised us to move here. They rarely advise people to move. It's a long story.

so yeah, it was a great movie and it hit home on many levels. I found it at the library. I was there picking up a few books and stumbled over to the movie section and found it. anywho.. it really was good.

website and trailer http://65redroses.com/

you can rent it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opg0BjY4lo8

Just thought I would share. Eva is inspiring and just absolutely amazing!!
