Hi I have been prescribed this from my pain management Doc,Not received it as yet because my GP can't give me it or any pharmacist so it comes direct from a Hospital I don't know the reason behind this?

After a search on here is showed up a cancer concern.
Has anyone here Used it and had a Good experience with it or Bad? And how long have you been using it and Who prescribed it?

Sorry for so many Questions but I'm on that much medication as it is and hate taking it so don't want to add another in if it can do more harm than good.

I'm a biochemist who used pharmaceutical grade DMSO in the lab almost daily for many years, and also on my horses for inflammation problems. It's been used extensively for many things for decades so I believe if there was a significant cancer risk, it would have shown itself by now. JMO.

The problem you're having is probably getting the purity you need for human use. It's a carrier that will help "usher" other things, intentionally added or contaminants, into your system. So you need to make sure you use very pure pharmaceutical grade DMSO and be careful that you have clean skin without any contaminates in lotion or whatnot on your skin that will go into your system when you apply it. It can be bought straight and diluted to 50% with distilled water. People also use olive oil as it can be irritating to the skin. So it's safe with precautions.

I just bought some 100% a couple of days ago and I'm working on how I want to use it to get maximal effect without too much skin irritation. I'm interested in hearing anybody else's experiences with it too. Especially if it reduced swelling. I've already searched out and read all the previous threads on this boards.

I used DMSO on horses for many years when I worked on the race track back in the early 70's. I totally agree with everything cdwall posted. It was easily available from large animal vets. Before I leave you with the wrong impression, I am NOT suggesting that you obtain your DMSO from a vet. Listen to cdwall. Get some high grade DMSO for human use. It has a very strong odor and you can "taste" it in your mouth upon application if you use your bare hands to apply.

I haven't thought about DMSO in years. The post brought back some fond memories of my horse days.

BTW, big surprise to me too but it actually doesn't have a strong odor and you can't taste it in your mouth when applying by hand when you use the pharmaceutical grade stuff. Kinda scary to wonder what that was coming from in the vet grade stuff I used on horses all those years

Very interesting. The vet grade had an immediate "taste it" effect. That was also MANY years ago, back in the 70's so maybe even the vet grade has changed.

Hey Denise! I have never used DMSO but read about it when someone recommended it to me. I read that it can intensify the effects of any oral medications you are taking. Have you heard that or know if it is true??

As an update. I'm not doing this but maybe once a day (not every 6 hours as recommended) but I think it's helping a little. I'm using it at 70% DMSO 30% distilled water, and adding, or going back over the areas with olive oil since it does irritate some areas of the skin.

Thanks for the updated I had not hear about it before,sure sounds real interesting with many warning and side effects for human use but I'm sure FDA will do studies to marketing on USA . Thanks for jesika .
