Oh I also get frustrated when I'm in a line at a store and they are trying to and you receipts, bags, etc. My RSD hand is numb and basically useless, plus it drops stuff. Sometimes I want to scream "give me a minute or I'm going to be dropping stuff and taking longer"

I drop things all the time. I have trouble grasping things too because my rsd hand doesn't close all the way and my fingers are turned slightly to the right. My wrist also is locked so it's hard to reach for things and grab them because of this too. I understand how you feel. It's very frustrating. I use a putty ball the try to keep my fingers nimble and build strength in my hand so I can grasp and hold onto things a little better. You can get them from a PT facility. They charge about $4.00 for a cup of putty but its worth it. I also pick up marbles. That helps too. I hope you feel better soon.

I drop stuff all the time too. Like others said, it is like my hands forget that they were holding something. In fact, my husband wants me to only use lidded cups now, as I call sippy cups, because I was spilling or dropping my glasses all the time. Good thing is that they are tervis tumblers and not actually glass and that I drink water majority of the time :)

The last "drop" was when I was going to put my glass of water on the table beside my recliner. I just let go of it before I even got to the table. It was full and hit the floor. Problem was I had my laptop and ipad on the floor right there along with a surge protector. The surge protector was now sitting in a puddle of water but luckily everything was ok....except that surge protector

Hi all, I gave in & took Nucynta so I can type a little so bear with me.
I know about dropping things too. My RSD started in my left arm/hand
& my hand is still contracted. So I wear my splint from P.T. when I go
out. It is only to encourage my thumb to bend but I also wear it as a
"warning" sign so other people see an "injury" and don't try to hand me
change etc.
About dropping things, I'm fine if it's a medium size object, but too large
my hand won't open, really small objects my hand kinda reacts in a sort of quick
spasm. It's like drop it like it's hot. I've been trying Topamax lately and it
seems too help a little with that. My P.M. Dr. gave it to me to try a while
back & it upset my digestive tract, but I'm giving it another try & it seems to work a little for dropping small objects.
