I thought I would give you all an update since you all showed such an outpouring of support, before I ask my question
You all know I had that awful flare this weekend. My legs and feet swelled up again and caused a lot of pain. This morning I woke up with severe pain (normal)& horrible stiffness(new). I could barely move my legs at all. I tried moving/stretching them out and I literally had to yell through the pain it caused, just to almost straighten them out. At the appointment, the podiatrist looked at my legs, but thankfully didn't manipulate them, due to the pain/swelling/discolorations. I told him about the flare and all symptoms since & new severe stiffness. He was sure that my Crps has spread to my legs & didn't really do anything else treatment wise since I already have an appointment with a new, can you believe it? ,Crps specialist in my area. Finally some luck! My question, since I can't find much information on it myself is... Have any of you had severe muscle stiffness in your Crps affected leg(s)? If so how do you help combat it without medications. I'm trying to find a little relief before my appointment Last edited by CRPSsongbird; 10-01-2014 at 04:48 AM. Reason: shortened |

Yep,
Sometimes I wake up in severe pain with leg cramps. Only in the left which is the first side of my body affect with CRSP. I find relief by soaking in a warm, not too hot, bath. I wish I had a whirlpool....

I have severe muscle stiffness in my RSD foot. My foot is constantly rotated to the side at a 45 degree angle and does not move - it stays like that ALL the time. I have been diagnosed with Dystonia, which I was told can often go hand in hand with RSD and is caused by a severe muscle spasm.
I've tried numerous different treatments for it, nothing has worked. My foots been like this 7 years now and as you can imagine, it is VERY painful and has also caused muscle issues. The thing my PT advised was to not do too much, but also not do too little. I was told that trying to reinforce "normal" behaviour can help BUT I do find when I do too much the rotation and spasm becomes worse. Another thing you could possibly look into is mirror therapy when you have the stiffness. You do movements with your good limb and that should try and "trick" the limb you are having issues with into working properly. It didn't work for me but everyone is different. I know a lot of people have had success with Baclofen for these issues, but again its different for everyone. It didn't help me and gave me bad side effects. Sorry you are going through this, I know how horrible it is and I hope you can find relief soon. Alison
