Default Pain meds

Hi everyone,
I am currently taking daily, 8 x 500mg Paracetamol, 8 x 30mg Dihydrocodeine, 2 x 300mg Pregabalin, 4 x 10mg Nortriptyline and wear a 52.5mcg/hr Buprenorphine patch. I then have 5ml/10mg Oramorph for breakthrough pain, although the pain is always breaking through!

I have twice in the past attended A&E (ER) when I couldn't take anymore and they have given me diamorphine, which helps. I don't like going to A&E because I know they are already very over worked and I feel like I am wasting their time. Also when I feel that bad I just want to curl up at home.

Can you get diamorphine on prescription for when im in stupid amounts of pain?

I was down to have a spinal cord simulator trial in August but I backed out as I have concerns and it honestly scares me!

Thanks for the reply moosey2me, I have osteoarthritis and after a knee replacement some years ago, I was left in pain and it didn't subside.

I haven't tried "the heating pad" is it literally just that?

I'm very aware that my meds count is growing and that I'm now very tolerant to opiates and that its a bad situation, I would love to get rid of the meds because its no doubt very bad for me!

Have you ever considered a pain pump?

Sorry forgot to put that the consultant has said the reason for the pain after surgery is CRPS, I guess its just another risk of surgery!

The consultant spoke about the pump, but I'm really against any further surgery because I'm worried that will cause more CRPS pain. I've had 14 knee surgeries and never really worried about them before but after the problems after knee replacement, I'm not so brave!
