Default Separate photo sticky? What do you think?

Hi all,

I really think it's time to have a separate sticky at the top of the first page for photos (I mean ones showing our swelling, blisters, colouring etc) what do you all think?

NT can't extend the number of threads per page (shame, but there you go) so it would mean losing one thread on page 1 in order to accomodate the new sticky.

But I think the photos are so tremendously helpful that it's worth it and at present all those very instructive pics are getting lost in either the body of the threads or the general links sticky; who has the time to rake through all the old posts? - and searching for pics is no good.

We could ask Jo if she's be kind enough to copy any posts already sent in with pics to the new sticky to form a separate album/gallery. The pics post could have a link to the original thread. I'd be happy to help with finding them again and if you know you've sent one in before, just say and we can find it.

In the old forum we introduced this idea quite late, but it grew quickly into a very, very useful addition to the forum.

Any reactions, anyone?
all the best

I think this is a fine notion! Not that I'd ever contribute, lol... I haven't let my feet get cold enough to have a true showing in over 6 years, and I am not going to start now. The pain isn't worth it, lol.

And we wouldn't have to "lose" a forum, we'd just have to combine two. I bet we can think of several places where there are under-utilized forums that would be perfect for this. Any suggestions, anyone?

Thanks Rogue and everyone,

I was thinking we could just add another "sticky" at the top of our RSD forum first page, so the first sticky would be "Introductions", next "Useful Links, Articles etc" then next "Photo Gallery" - which will make it into a permanent fixed thread.

It would just mean that below the stickies, the first page would show the most recent 19 threads instead of the 20 it shows now (there's a fixed number of items the page can contain which we can't change...)

The whole point of my suggestion is to make the pics an easily accessible, integrated part of the forum so that they would be instantly obvious the moment you enter Page 1. I think a sticky would do that just fine, it worked well before.

all the best

Hi Jo,

I don't think the way it is now is easy to find, you have to know what you're looking for before you find it, lol! but we (OK, you, and thanks for setting that up!) made a very good start there.

Please can we have a separate sticky? Is it hard to do? The forum seems to have settled down now, we don't have many days when the "today" posts spill over to the next page, so I don't think one less thread on page 1 matters.

Pictures are *so* important with RSD - I suspect the "visual presentation" when you see doctors is probably the main thing they go by! Not to mention how much info there is now in the form of diagrams, PPT presentations, animations, interviews, procedure videos, etc.

It's such a shame we lost the pictures in the other forum, we were starting to build a good gallery. Oh well, so we start again...but I think we need to establish a separate "sticky" before the forum itself builds up any more.

As it is now, we aren't encouraging posters to add to the "picture database". Imagine if you're a new poster, clicking into the links thread - you don't really know if those links are for text or pics..you have to scroll through so much so you just think "hang on, where are the pictures?". Then eventually you come to the actual "picture link" - and you have to click again..also, the thread itself starts with text posts...

At least if it's in its own "sticky", you know exactly where you are.

I've been through the back history and have attached the missing ones. I've put them in "single post" format, because when they come up, there's a link in the top right corner that takes you to the original thread, very useful.

I've included diagrams and assistive devices too.
I think it should include videos as well, although I haven't had time to find those, but I know we have some links in threads.

So, if this can be done, could it be headed:
Add your RSD Photos, Pictures and Video links here.

I hope others agree. But even if there are only a few of us who care about it, I feel very strongly that it will enrich this forum hugely.

Here are the missing pix:

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...58&postcount=9
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...55&postcount=4
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...28&postcount=6
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...96&postcount=7
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...49&postcount=1

Jo, could this be done, do you think?
all the best

Thank you *SO* much, Jo,

Woo-hoo! It looks just brilliant! I'll start to search out the video/interview links in the threads when I get time (and storms permitting, we've got a doozy on the way right now!)..

thanks, all the best
