Many of us came the this site for information about treatments and medications. I believe the old saying laughter is the best medicine. What may be the best thing about laughter is that it's free. So I thought maybe we could share some stories that have made those bad days just a little bit better.

I will proudly be the first one to share. The other day I put on my shirt backwards and wore it that way the whole day. It was a v-neck! You would think that my husband or my friends that visited me would have said something. It's a good thing I can laugh at myself.

We have small dog, a cairn terrier like Toto from the Wizard of Oz. Despite her small size she produces an astounding amount of solid waste material which she likes to deposit pretty much all over the yard. Recently she has taken to making deposits right on the stone walkway leading around the yard to the garbage can. I don't know how she came to this logistical decision but the cat has been stealing her bed recently. You better watch out if you take out the trash.The other day, about the second day after she started this behavior, she had left a package at the beginning of the walk which I tossed elsewhere with a small shovel after cursing lightly and putting the garbage down. Didn't want to forget about it on the return trip. As I rounded the corner I came upon another perfectly centered pile. I dropped off the garbage. Then I went back for the hand shovel. I turned back around towards the trash can to go clean up and there she was about to make another deposit mid-route! I nudged her into the grass while muttering something appropriate to the situation. I was confident she stayed in the grass while I was by the garbage because I saw her out of the corner of my eye finishing her business. But what I didn't realize was that she had managed to sneak up to the beginning of the sidewalk leaving a single fresh unobtrusive piece where I didn't notice. And then it happened. Yep. I stepped right in it....

I got a cute story!
My sister sent me a few things for Christmas and one of my gifts was a small bird that can be placed on the mantle of my fireplace. It has a motion detector which makes it chirp and it sounds just like some birds that fly around outside and feed from their feeder.
My dog can make it chirp by barking at it too.
So now Ibiza barks at all the birds she sees trying to get them to chirp...I find it funny to watch!

We had an ice storm a month or so back, and I was walking up the steps to work. 3 total steps. And a hand rail. No biggie.

As a side note - I have a pathetic relationship with my cell phone; I am in love with it. It pretends to love me back with lots of information and a realtime worldwide connection.

So it slips out of my hand walking up these steps which are absolutely COVERED in ice, and what is my first reaction? SAVE THE PHONE.

Saving the phone means not saving my grip on the hand rail, my balance, or my dignity. I go down sideways and completely sprawl out in a pathetic heap, landing on knee hip and elbow.

I look up and realize half the building is watching me through the windows. Very fortunately I am completely fine so I make a quick sheepish bow to my coworkers and tiptoe in, totally shaken up but with phone intact. I didn't even catch the thing; it skittered down the sidewalk and landed on the side of its protective case.

Funny how the subconscious works...

I have a never ending supply of dog stories. My younger dog is almost 3 and he still gets scared when he passes gas. He will jump up and try to run away from his hind end. Also just a few months ago discovered he has a tail. My dogs may not be certified as therapy dogs but between the laughter and and cuddles I don't know what I would do without them. Plus as odd as it sounds when I am having a bad day I tell my dogs about it. They are the best listeners and I know they won't judge me.

So the bird post made me think of this story. My dog is diabetic, so she needs to eat on a strict schedule. So I set an alarm on my phone to remind me of her schedule. I wanted a ring tone that wasn't obnoxious. I picked a quaking duck. Well my dog quickly learned that quaking means food. So she does this excited food dance whenever she hears the alarm. Well one day we were walking by a pond and some real ducks started quaking. My pup got super excited and started her food time dance. It was hilarious.
