Legin,

There may be other meds that might help. I couldn't tolerate neurontin either, made me depressed. I have done well on TCAs, low dose nortriptyline just at bed. Takes the stinging down and doesn't kill my mood. There are options out there. I had to play with the dose a bit due to dizziness but got that managed. Also worth a look at vitamin levels. My neuro was adamant about checking D levels and they were low, very common, a problem for both nerves and chronic pain. I supplement now, figure I need every advantage I can get.

take care, Littlepaw

Legin,
I take Gabapentin 100ml 3 times a day, well I switched it to night, and it works better for me. Sorry to hear it brought you down, I have only been taking it for a couple months, and haven't noticed that happening yet. I find I was more down before I knew what was going on.

Don't give up on climbing that wee hill  and enjoying your special spot!!! Hopefully you'll get back up there soon! Are there trails? 1000', wow just wow!! I cannot imagine living near a loch and being surrounded by such beauty! It has been a long time dream to walk the highlands, and am glad you have the opportunity to see it, and I look forward to reading about it when you get to walking it again!!

Take care,

Oh and I unfortunately live in flat NW Ohio, where you have corn fields as far as the eye can see... We get excited when you are driving your car and theres a slight hill that just might tickle your belly... pretty sad actually.... lol

Oh btw I saw the meds amount my gp had me taking 1200 Gaberpentin at night as in 4 x 300. I started on one tablet and worked up to 3 for sleep well easing the nerve pain and went upto 4 about 6 weeks ago. I became aware i was getting down and cranky but it came to a point where I had to look at why. There are also other issues around.

Ah the quest for tolerable shoes. Don't know how many pairs I've had to try, some that seem to work but only for 30 minutes, others impossible to keep on 5 seconds, then blissfully about 3 pair that seem okay....

I took quite quickly to hard-soled slippers. They seem to have the most give. The hardest part is finding some that don't really look like slippers, which is becoming easier, actually. Being a nurse in an assisted living facility (LOTS of walking), I've been wearing slippers for shoes years before my RSD diagnosis. My supervisor would call them my "almost shoes". :o

Wee update. Yesterday attended vascular clinic had all tests re swelling and colour all nae problem but I was sure would be the case. Foot v v sore with every step and when lady put probe to measeure pulse in ankle I almost kicked her, involuntarily honest.
After much ear bashing from the wifffffff went to gp today have been perscribed pregabalin and tramadol upped. Oh happy days.
On the plus side its a beautiful day and whilst what was a 7 min walk took 40 I basked in the sun, so life aint that bad. Looking forward to resumption of boat bus to island cant reach my thinking rock but the island is bonny and peaceful.
