You could go ahead and start the Vitamin C now to give it time to build up in your system. It sure can't hurt. My son's pain management doctor has him on 500 mg/ 2x a day with food. He said it takes 6-8 weeks to start taking effect for pain management and some surgeons have their patients start taking it two months before a planned surgery.
