Hi, everyone. I read an article once that said novocaine was a bad idea for dental work, but can't locate it. Any thoughts on this?

Hi Suz,

Lidocaine is the most common anaesthetic used in dental work. Novocaine not as much anymore because of higher allergic reactions. Since lidocaine infusions are give for CRPS it seems like it would be okay. Some people react to the epinephrine mixed in with the lido with increased heart rate and flushing. In those cases they can just inject lido with no epi. I would ask your dental office what they use.

Hi, Littlepaw. all I know is that I had a root canal probably 2 years agoand my jaw has never been the same. I'm having some pain there again on the top and the bottom. don't know maybe its sinuses but I'm afraid to go to the dentist for more work until I find out more about it. When I had a root canal done I feel like someone was hitting me in the jaw with a sledgehammer and the orthodontist was not very compassionate to say the least.
