I'm glad lyrica is helping! As to your question--
I do wonder, though, why the discoloration doesn't seem to improve. It still turns purple if he dangles it, stands in place, or it gets cold. Does this just eventually go away? Is it usually treated as a circulation problem?[/QUOTE] In my situation with RSD/CRPS i had a severely swollen, red/purple, painful foot. That was 5yrs ago. The swelling went down but i still feel like i am stepping on a pebble in my shoe. Theres a feeling of a lump on the underside of my foot, and the foot is thicker than the other. I have to keep the laces loose or i get stabbing pains in it. As for the color, it eventually returned to normal only now both of them turn red or purple depending how long im standing. They also swell. They are very sensitive. I cant go barefoot without pain. Just forget about carpeting it feels too weird against my skin. Even a new pair of sneakers will trigger stabbing pains in both feet. I wasnt alerted at the getgo of what i had. It sounds like your son has both age and early intervention on his side. Im glad lyrica and water therpy are helping him. |

Maybe for some, everyone responds differently. We've tried several medications before this one. He started on a very low dose at bedtime, so that if there were drowsiness issues as his body adjusted to it, it wouldn't be noticeable. Then the next week we added a morning dose, and continued to increase it once a week till it got to his current dose. It's one of those medicines that are usually titrated up to avoid risk of side effects. It seemed to work for him. A full dose straight out of the gate might not have been tolerated as well.
