Help Nerve Blocks, Will it help my leg "heaviness"

Hi Everyone!

I'm scheduled for a gangleon sympathetic nerve block on Wednesday. I'm wondering how these have worked for others. Does it only help the pain? What about my weakness and heaviness in my leg. My leg has felt "dead" with a lot of pins and needles sensations. Does the nerve block help with this?

Thanks for anyone's opinions!
Jes

Hi Swanny,

Best of luck tomorrow! I am sending good thoughts for relief and healing. Like every treatment, results with blocks vary. Some people get relief, some do not. I am hoping you fall in the first category. If it works for you I would think that would present as pain relief and maybe some reduction of swelling which could help the heaviness. Let us know how it goes.

Sending healing love,

I am one of the folks who fall into the category of no results. But types of blocks vary for reasons too. Mine were more of the exploratory type looking to see which nerves were affected.
I am with Paw in hoping you find relief and please do let us know how it goes...

Default Update

Well, the shot itself went ok. It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. I was awake for it, but they gave me a pill to help me relax a bit, which was nice. I was incredibly groggy afterwards and had a difficult time walking.

Today, the "heaviness" has decreased, but the pain is still coming and going. I think at this point, it may be too soon to know if it was worth it.

IF the doctor considers it a success, how quickly do I have another one?

Thanks for all of the support!
Jes

Hi Swanny,

Glad it went okay. It may be too early to tell. Some docs put steroid in with the shot and that doesn't always kick in right away. I have ready varying accounts in literature of how often they are done. Your doc may have a personal preference on this.

I hope it keeps getting better!

Hello,
Well, it's been two days since the block, and the heaviness is reappearing... and my foot is SCREAMING at me. I'm scheduled for one more nerve shot next week in hopes that we can make ANY more progress. I am out of pain meds too, so it could be a very long weekend!

Thanks for the news. I wish it went better for you. Funny you said your foot is screaming at you since the first shot. I've not heard anyone except myself say that. Sometimes i describe my feet as rebellious toddlers. They have amind of their own haha. Mine dont like new shoes, ever, no matter how well they go with my outfit. I hope your next shot does the trick for you. I have heard the docs say sometimes it takes 2-3 shots.
