Default Breathing and body control

Badboy99 shared the following link without comment on the PD section

Wim Hof, the subject, believes that we all have an innate ability to heal and to control our bodies. He uses a simple breathing technique that anyone can learn.

hi bio. thanks for the link. it is very interesting. though i think that our minds and breathing can help us to manage our pain a iittle better, i also believe that sometimes medicine prescribed by a dr and certain medical procedures are also necessary to manage rsd pain. as for the cold i was told by my drs that it is not good for people with rsd because it can further damage the nerves. i know from experience that cold and ice cause me more pain so i stay away from it. but if these techniques help you to manage your rsd pain better then i think that is great. everyone responds differently to different techniques and what we chose to help us manage our rsd pain is a totally personal decision between us and our drs. thanks again for the link. hugs.

RSD ME,

Wim Hofs ability to withstand cold resonated with me, because I am chronically cold even in the summer, so much so I have a heating pad and an electric blanket near my bed and couch at all times. I am under a heated blanket right now.

Yes you are right there is information that ice is not good for RSD, ice concentrated around my RSD foot and ankle wasn't helpful for me.

But now, after seeing the documentary, I am thinking that maybe I need to address my global inability to keep myself warm.

I am considering learning the Hof breathing technique and then slowly making my shower and bath water less warm.

hi again bio. i hope that you're breathing technique helps you to stay warm. i personally wouldn't make my shower and bath water less warm because that would only aggravate my rsd. i would rather put on a sweater or turn up the heat or heating pad. i believe the mind can help manage pain by thinking positive thoughts but wouldn't do something that could aggravate my rsd like lowering the temp of my bath or shower water in order to try to train my mind to tolerate the cold better. but that's just me. to each his own. i hope whatever you try helps ease your pain and keep you warm. hugs.

RSD ME,

If I manage to do both the Hof breathing and getting used to cooler showers it will be a miracle. I have a huge heater that is turned on high when I bathe.

Vis,

Thank you, I am so glad you appreciated it.

I am tired of being cold all the time and I am worried that unless I do something soon I will be like my friend's grandmother, who spent the last twenty years of her life in a tiny house with a stove blasting out heat 24/7. No one wanted to visit her, because her place was so stiflingly hot.

I am fearful that if I keep adding more and more heat generating items to keep me warm I will never be able to self-regulate my body temperature.

Well i really enjoyed the video! The idea of going into ice water and not feel the cold is amazing. My feet up to my knees tend to be ice ice cold. I put a heating pad under the blanket to warm up my toes. Cant sleep with cold feet. I predict i will be wearing wool socks in august in the near future.
