Default 6 weeks post 10 day Inpatient Ketamine Infusion

I wanted to write an update, since I had trouble finding information for my own Ketamine Infusion.

I am 6 weeks out and honestly my quality of life has improved. It was not a miracle and I am not magically back to my old self but I can now climb steps, cook a grilled cheese sandwich standing up, take showers and when our area got the big blizzard last week I took my snowboard down the driveway (which was fun but I regretted later). All of those things seems small but to me they are major.

I had my post Ketamine appointment and the Dr is pleased with my improvements. I was at a mostly 2-4 in pain for the first few weeks (with spikes into the 10). Now I am creeping back up to a 6 or an 8, thanks to a dental infection which caused my entire nervous system to rebel.

I go in for my Booster which is 4 days inpatient March 8th. I am eager to see what happens for this go around!

It is so wonderful to read your good news! Climbing stairs and making grilled cheese are a big deal.

It may very well happen that you get even more relief with your booster. My results have been cumulative and I hope yours are too!

Thank you for sharing your story with us. I also had trouble finding information on ketamine, especially different protocols. You got one of the ones most highly recommended. I'm happy to hear you have had improvements and hopefully will benefit even more as your treatment goes forward. I'm curious, did your insurance pay? You may have put this in another post, but I cannot remember. Please keep us updated. ~mac

Default correction 7 day infusion not 10

Apologies, it was 7 days not 10. It felt like 10!

Yes my insurance covered it. I had a $300 copay for the whole thing. I have anthem BCBS. They are also covering for me to be in the OR to have some dental work done because I can't stand the procedures. They are decent in coverage, however they are refusing to pay my monthly $180 ketamine pills I take.

I hope I do get relief! Today was actually a high pain day.. I am ready to go back again!
