Default Just finished ketamine and nerve block today

I probably won't remember any of this tomorrow I got the ketamine today but was only allowed to get half due to another medicine I was on. I also had the nerve block for my foot. I can't tell a difference yet but I will keep y'all posted. I do have one question. After a nerve block for a foot is it normal to have numbness at the top of my leg?? This feels weird.

Yay!!!! Get some rest and let us know how you are doing when you can.

I have never had a block myself, but I think I read somewhere that a little numbness is normal. If your entire leg goes numb, then I would call the doctor when you can. That would be an indication that nerves that were not supposed to be blocked received the block. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah, you survived.

It might be worth a phone call to ask if the area of numbness you are having is in the nerve distribution they were going for. There could be some overlap or they could've not quite hit the spot. Did you have any warming of your limb? This is a normal reaction to sympathetic block whether a person has CRPS or not.

I hope you get some relief! It may not be immediate...

Update!!! It's the day after treatment. The numbness on top of leg is gone. Yesterday after treatment he had thermometers on my feet. They were 10 degrees different.
Today I am not sure how I'm feeling the soreness pain is still there but I can walk a little better. The nerve pain is actually stronger than before yesterday but comes and goes. I'm not sure what to think!!!

Juliek,

The temperature differences are exactly the same as what mine were back in July. That is one thing about this whole dreadful experience that still amazes me.

I am glad to hear that you are able to walk better. As for the soreness, it is my understanding that some people do experience some pain for a few days following the procedure. It may also be an indication that the block did not have any real effect for you. You did gain some functionality though, which is one of the important parts of treating this terrible condition. If I were you, I would keep track of what does and does not improve, such as pain levels and your ability to walk, and bring them up next time you see your doctor. If the pain levels do get too far beyond what you can deal with, call your doctor.
