Default Home automation

Hi,

Do any of you know anything about home automation? I am looking at this as an option instead of environmental controls - they apparently have a 2 year waiting list and I can't bear the frustration any longer!! As the systems are a quarter of the price of environmental controls I am finding them tempting - $650 or so instead of $2750 and look ok and are voice activated so wouldn't have to have sip puff straw. So, any ideas?

Thanks!!

Love

Hi F,

I don't know what it is; thought it was when your front door, lights, cooker, water boiler, toaster etc etc all worked by magic. Evidently not, lol

all the best!

Thanks Jo!! I'm thinking bout HAL but have found a cheaper modular device so can add on stuff as needed. Rang the helpline earlier and a (very sexy sounding) Scotish lad tried to explain how to do it. So he is now writing me a quote which will have automatic lights (indoor and outdoor), window openers, curtain opener, CD player, TV etc - it looks pretty cool - and whilst it's expensive I think it will make a tremendous difference.

And the best bit? I can control it over the internet - so Charlote had better watch out or suddenly I will decide to accidently start the sprinklers, a CD she hates (full volume of course) and turn all heating off and open the windows. All from Bath! I mean how much fun am I going to have!?!? It will be brilliant!

Artist - well, apparently if you play and program the stuff you can phone the house, tell the cooker to start, the doors to open, the alarms to go off etc and can set timers for lights.

So, fingers crossed this works!!!!!

Love

Frogga,

Does the sexy scot come with the unit? lol.. you should also get one of the robot dogs that are out there. then have it attach your sister. You can look at her with your most innocent face and just blame it on computer problems. Nobody could blame you. l Go for it...

LOL. I just trained my dog to bite her. All you do is show Smally a piece of chocolate and say "Bite her" (especially if she is near the front door) and he does... though apparently doing this is mean...

....but so so so fun!!

a Robot dog sounds brill though! have you ever thought of an assistance dog?

Love ya

I do have assistance dogs, I give them all the assistance I can lol. Mine would be so jealous. they are getting older and not quite so social as they were when they were younger. Oh well. cats wouldn't work either. i can see me taking one of the horses into a restaurant. One quick poop, and I would never be allowed in town again. lol..
