As a result of having CRPS, I have been eating quite healthily. I only have one problem. Every once in a while I allow myself to eat whatever I want. When I do this, my body is so used to eating right that I just don't feel well physically for a day or so after I eat that way. Outside of giving up completely on "freely" eating, do any of you know how to do this without feeling so yucky afterwards?
Healthy diet is ICKY

I can not say that I have any good recommendations, other than try looking at some of the ingredients of things that you eat on your "free" days. The more natural the diet, and the more ingredients that are in it that your body is used to, the easier it is for your body to break things down. Your body has become unfamiliar with things that you may have cut out, or cut back on, such as hydrogenated oils, complex sugars, red meats, whatever you have cut back on, that it just does not know what to do with them. As a result, you feel bloated, sick to your stomach, lethargic...
I'm not sure if that helps at all. Hope you are still having a decent day.

Same thing happens to me...I can tell when I cheat on my 4 Fs diet...which usually happens when I am unable to make food for myself because of pain...making me actuallly feel even worse...vicious cycle. I will say I am not the most strict on the diet and allow myself a few freedoms but selective ones so that it doesn't hit me like having a full on cheat day does.

Those bad pain days are the hardest to eat correctly during. What is worse is when the bad pain day hits, and the cupboard is bare. I don't keep a lot of junk food in the house, but, when those bad pain days occur I grab anything that is quick and close. I have a question: How does your little one deal with the reality of your having CRPS? and.. Please, if you'd rather not answer, I certainly understand.

We don't have hardly any junk food in the house usually...amybe tortilla chips and popcorn most days. What happens to me is that I end up ordering food...usually from dominos or some place like that and the food is definitely not good for me and my RSD.

I try to eat healthy but like everyone else on the bad days I just eat whatever is easiest to prepare.
I love soup and I love my crock pot so on days I am feeling better I make a huge pot of soup. I separate it into at least 4 portions and freeze them so all I have to do is take it out of the freezer and heat it up. This morning I pulled out some chicken noodle soup for dinner. |

The only problems with this are that 1) the prep takes a lot out of me so I have had to not make certain meals a second time because the prep was too much, 2) if I run out of freezer meals and I don't feel up to prepping that can result in ordering out again, 3) sometimes I don't even feel up to heating up leftovers, and 4) washing the crock pot is a painful task each morning. But...it's working out a lot better than anything else I've tried and everyone in the house is eating better most of the time. I will definitely continue this and can see where once I get back to work it will be especially helpful because after a day of work I really don't feel up to any cooking. |

I find that moderation is key for me. And sometimes this is so hard! I can handle small amounts of the foods that I flare on if I choose just one or really minimize it. A full smorgasboard causes too much trouble.
Though I did make the choice to enjoy ALL the things that set me off out at dinner around New Year's at this fabulous little Italian taverna. And boy was it good! Spike, I am very curious what happens when you eat pizza if you don't mind sharing. This sets me off too. So unfair! I am lucky that in Austin we have both Whole Foods and several little places nearby that have healthy meals ready to go, so when I know I'm not going to feel like cooking (ketamine, scar injections, crummy day, so many reasons) I get prepared or send my hubby by....
