Default Doctor offered a referral to CRPS center - where?

The neurologist, who diagnosed my daughter, admitted that he saw in total five CRPS patients in his practice and offered to make a referral to Mayo Clinic or Clevelned Clinic.

From my research, I know that MN Mayo clinic does not have anything to offer for CRPS except their pain management program. My daughter is in the early stage of the disease and would like to get a comprehensive treatment plan developed vs. just pain management, at this point.

If she can ask for ANY referral, what would be the best clinic or specific specialist to get referred to? She is in Chicago, but would travel anywhere.

Thank you all. I hope everybody is having less pain today.

I agree that Mayo is not the best choice. I have heard both good and bad about the Cleveland Clinic...my understanding is that it is a very intense program which I personally think is a good thing...but only if you can handle it. I would suggest doing a search for it to see what others have thought of it to decide if it is a good choice for you. I am in Chicago and don't really know of any comprehensive programs around here...but that doesn't mean they don't exist. I hope someone else is able to pop in with more info. Between the two choices...I personally would go with the Cleveland Clinic as everything I have heard about Mayo with regards to CRPS and other chronic pain conditions isn't very good.

Blueberry,

Please opt for the Cleveland Clinic Program. My PM doctor stated that the reason children's CRPS programs were successful is due to intense, daily work. He felt that if the same methods were applied to adults with CRPS, more of us would recover.

I agree with him up to a point. I did not improve substantially until I took LDN. LDN coupled with sessions in the pool helped me the most, certainly far more more than standard PT alone. I think CRPS has to be aggressively treated before there are substantial physiological and psychological changes.
