Default DRG Stimulation Trial Scheduled

Hi everyone! Just wanted to post some exciting news...I was able to schedule my DRG Stimulation trial for November 14th! Of course...that's 3 days before my daughter's second birthday...but I didn't want to put it off any later as I am very anxious to get this process started and get everything done as soon as possible. I know from experience that I shouldn't get my hopes up too high...but now that I have made the decision to move forward with this treatment I am feeling very positive and optimistic about it. This won't solve all the issues and it won't get me to "pain free"...but there is a good chance my pain levels could be cut in half...at least cut in half and possibly more. That would be life changing!

There's still a chance I guess that my regular insurance may deny it...and that's really the only thing that could delay this at all...but hopefully since the doctor's office has the denial from work comp on file that won't be an issue.

At any rate...I am very excited and I plan to share as much as I can about this journey with all of you in the hopes that it may help someone out in the future as well...especially since it is a pretty new procedure and it is hard to find information about it beyond the initial study which led to its being approved by the FDA to treat CRPS in the US.

Hi Catra,

Thanks for the update. I am so glad to hear you are able to move forward! I know it took a lot of coordination and effort to get things going. I agree, why wait longer than necessary. 50% pain relief would be wonderful. Your daughter is at a good age for having a low key birthday.

Please give us a reminder as the time gets closer. I for one will forget and want to be sending you prayers and healing thoughts. We are with you.

I hope it all works out for you!

So glad to hear that this is finally moving forward for you. I know you have been fighting to get this scheduled for some time now. I hope that this provides you with enough relief and to possibly even have a permanent device implanted to give you long term relief. Who knows, you might be able to have a big birthday party for your daughter. I will hold you high in my thoughts when you go to have it in, so please be sure to remind us when that time does come around.

Thank you for the update and sharing your journey with us. As usual, you are facing this with courage, optimism, and a realistic perspective.

Hope you are planning your daughter's birthday celebration a few days early so you don't miss out on any of her joy of celebrating birthday number 2!!!

My thoughts and prayers will be with you.

Thank you everyone! The big family birthday parties are the weekend of November 5th (they are combo parties...one for each side of the family with another little one that has birthdays around the same time...so less pressure and workload for me)...so her actual birthday will just be me, her, and her dad. The timing is working out well in that regard.

I will definitely let you guys know as the time gets closer. As always...thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and support.

Keep us posted on how things evolve and go as you go, if that's possible. It's always nice with newer things to be able to follow along with someone. If that's do-able for you, though!

Best wishes!
